On Friday, Marvel Studios released a brand new trailer for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. Filled with amazing sequences and pairings, the trailer offers some new insight on what to expect when our favorite heroes face off against the Mad Titan.
Thanos’ Endgame Explained
Gamora does a good job explaining Thanos’ mission: collect all six Infinity Stones and wipe out half of the universe with a snap of a finger. Interesting enough, Thanos actually destroyed half of the universe with one single snap in the 1991 Infinity Gauntlet limited series.
Model Prime Armor, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange & Q-Ship
Iron Man’s new suit, the Model Prime armor, shapeshifts from two feet repulsors to a singular repulsor. Tony is chasing after Thanos’ Q-ship because our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is up there in his regular suit.
But could Tony be chasing after Doctor Strange as well? We know that Thanos’ Q-ship is coming to Earth, specifically New York, because of Strange’s Time Stone, which is inside the Eye of Agamotto. Later in the trailer, we see Strange being tortured by Ebony Maw on what looks the same ship.
So, perhaps, Strange is kidnapped, which prompts Iron Man to rescue him before the Q-Ship enters into space, but at the same time, he’s unaware that Peter is on the ship. Tony commands FRIDAY to activate the Iron Spider suit to fly towards Peter before he enters into space and dies.
Captain America Reunites with T’Challa
Last time we saw Steve and T’Challa together, Bucky was put on ice. Now, Cap returns with a full-on entourage: Black Widow, Bruce Banner, Rhodey, Scarlet Witch, Vision and Falcon. Can’t wait to see Sam and Rhodey’s reactions to Wakanda.
The Guardians Return to Knowhere
The Guardians make a trip back to Knowhere, in hopes of intercepting the Collector before Thanos gets his hands on the Reality Stone.
“Let’s Talk About This Plan of Yours”
Tony isn’t impressed with Star-Lord’s suggestion.
Hulk (or Banner) in the Hulkbuster
With Iron Man on Titan with the Guardians, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, it’s pretty clear that Banner is in the new and improved Hulkbuster armor. What isn’t clear is if it’s Bruce Banner or the Hulk in the armor. It’s possibly that Bruce is in the Hulkbuster armor at first, but after he gets ambushed by the Outriders in the bottom picture, Banner turns into the Hulk.
Thor Showing Off His Powers to Rocket and Teenage Groot
It’s unclear what Thor is doing in this moment. Could he be building his new half ax, half hammer weapon? Whatever he’s up to, Rocket and Teenage Groot are impressed.
Q-Ship Crashes on Titan
It’s safe to assume that Iron Man, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange ambush the Q-ship and somehow land on Titan, Thanos’ homeworld. The question is… why? Could Tony be drawing Thanos out in an effort to stop his Infinity Stone quest?
Thanos’ Backstory
It was confirmed that Thanos’ past would be explored in Infinity War. In this shot, it looks like Thanos conquers Gamora’s homeworld and takes a much younger version of her.
And standing by his side is what looks like the Chitauri, who were last seen in the first Avengers film.
Thanos Crushes the Space Stone… WITH HIS BARE HANDS!
The Mad Titan needs no hammer to crack open the Tesseract to get the Space Stone. To connect some of the dots, let’s say that Loki hands Thanos the Tesseract because 1. Loki owes Thanos for a failed invasion on Earth and 2. because Thanos is possibly torturing Thor in front of Loki.
“I Hope They Remember You”
Easily, one of the most spine tingling lines out of this trailer as Thanos apparently says this to Tony.
Time for more speculation! What if Thanos kills/severely injures everyone on Titan and leaves Tony on the planet to watch his friends die? That would parallel Tony’s vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Captain America vs. Thanos
It doesn’t look good for The First Avenger. Thanos may be big, but Cap’s heart is bigger, so he isn’t going down without a fight. It’s possibly that Thanos has more Infinity Stones on his gauntlet at this point in the movie. Perhaps, the other stones were removed, similar to Thor’s eye in Thor: Ragnarok. Also, could Bucky be running to save Steve’s life?
“Oh, We’re Using Our Made-Up Names?”
Peter formally meeting Doctor Strange. First, he introduces himself as Peter Parker, then Spider-Man after Strange uses his alter-ego name.
What was your favorite moment from the second trailer? Who do you think is going to die? And where is the Soul Stone? Be sure to see Avengers: Infinity War when it comes out April 27.
