by Jacob Fisher

1997: The year of ‘Titanic’, ‘Starship Troopers’, ‘Men In Black’ and ‘Hercules’ certainly showed that 1997 was an excellent year for films however, one film did stand out compared to all of the other films from that year. No, not ‘Batman & Robin’, it is certainly ‘Air Force One’.

‘Air Force One’ follows the story of communist radicals hijacking Air Force One with The U.S. President and his family on board. The Vice President negotiates from Washington D.C., while the President, a Veteran, fights to rescue the hostages on board. The president was played by Harrison Ford who, even if you have not seen the film, you will be familiar with the famous “Get off my plane” meme which has become one of the most iconic film catchphrases of all time.

However, you may want to get back on the plane because according to our sources, a ‘Air Force One’ sequel is currently in early development. It is unknown if Wolfgang Petersen and Harrison Ford will reprise their roles or if this will be a new story with new characters set in the same universe.

Let us know your thoughts on a ‘Air Force One’ sequel and if you would like to see Harrison Ford return or see another actor shout the iconic catchphrase.

Harrison Ford needs to do the next Indiana Jones film. ANd then enjoy life. He’s earned it. If there is a “sequel,” the logical President would be Glenn Close returning as Catherine the former VP. But the wrinkle is that she is not a former military person. She can only be a strategist. Air Fore One was basically another Passenger 57 which was “Die Hard on a Plane.” The format doesn’t have to be followed 100%.
