Channing Tatum’s huge comeback is happening and we have more details.
After taking a 2-year hiatus from starring in live-action films, Channing Tatum will star in and produce an adaption of ‘Six Years’ for Netflix. Tatum will play the lead role of Jake Fisher in the film.
Tatum’s last live-action role was Tequila in ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’, he has had various voice roles as Migo in ‘Smallfoot’ and as Superman in ‘The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part’.
He has seemingly been using his acting hiatus to develop his production company Free Association, which he is involved with alongside Reid Carolin, the two were going to direct Fox’s ‘Gambit’ film together however the Fox/Disney merger resulted in the ‘Gambit’ film being canceled. The production company has so far developed ‘Logan Lucky’, ‘War Dog: A Soldier’s Best Friend’, ‘6 Balloons’ and ‘Light Years’.
Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin will produce ‘Six Years’ through their Free Association production company. Free Association is also developing a range of upcoming projects including ‘Dog’, which Channing Tatum will star in, co-write and co-direct alongside Reid Carolin. ‘Dog’ will follow an army ranger and his dog who embark on a road trip along the Pacific Coast Highway to attend a friend’s funeral.
Channing Tatum will also star in ‘Bob The Musical’ for Disney which he will produce through his Free Association production company. The film tells the story of a regular guy who, after a blow to the head, suddenly can hear the inner songs of everyone’s heart as his reality is instantly turned into a musical, much to his dismay. This film is another musical that Disney has in the pipeline alongside its ‘A Christmas Carol’ reimagining ‘Marley’ from Bill Condon, that film is already in the casting process and is eyeing to begin filming this Summer in London.
Arash Amel will write the screenplay for ‘Six Years’. He has previously written ‘Grace of Monaco’, ‘A Private War’ and ‘The Titan’. He has also co-written ‘Outside the Wire’ for Netflix as well as the John Cena and Jackie Chan action flick ‘Project X-Traction’ for production company Sparkle Roll Media.
Based on the novel by Harlan Coben. ‘Six Years’ follows Jake Fisher who watched the love of his life, Natalie, marry another man. Six years later, Jake comes across the other man’s obituary. He resolves to attend the funeral, hoping to catch a glimpse of Natalie. But the mourning widow is not Natalie, throwing all of his past memories with the woman into question.
