It’s December, the last month of 2020. It’s been a tough year for us all, and I’m sure we’re eager to wrap this year up with a pretty bow and toss it right into the fireplace. But before we can do that, Hulu’s got new and exciting content headed for December. It’s Christmas time and that means a time full of love, snow (hopefully), Santa Claus, Christmas trees, lights, and most importantly, Tom Cruise infiltrating a sex cult. That’s right folks, Stanley Kubrick’s last feature film Eyes Wide Shut is coming to Hulu December 1st. The film is set at Christmas and follows Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman as they play a married couple who go through a rough patch in their relationship, and what follows is one of Kubrick’s best. Definitely check it out this Holiday Season.
The holidays can be a tough time for many, and those who don’t particularly enjoy celebrating may turn their heads away from holiday-oriented films. If that’s the case then don’t worry because Hulu has a lot of great non-holiday related movies coming in December. Noticeably, the biggest titles are The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Three of the biggest films to ever release, filled with fantastical characters and a ton of heart for those who want something grand, but human at the same time. The Fifth Element and Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties are two sci-fi adventures for those who want their dose of space action and lasagna eating ASMR.
Check out the full list of titles joining Hulu in December 2020 and more of our recommendations below. See what’s also coming to HBO Max and Disney+!
Our Recs:
The Hardy Boys
When ‘The Hardy Boys’ Frank and Joe arrive in Bridgeport after a family tragedy, the duo take it upon themselves to start an investigation in this small town and uncover something sinister. This dark and gritty reboot of the famous children’s book series stars Alexander Elliot, Rohan Campbell, Jennifer Hsiung, Keana Lyn, and more. The Hardy Boys releases exclusively on Hulu December 4th.
Letterkenny
After a long wait, the beloved series returns. First premiering in 2016, Letterkenny quickly became beloved by fans for its sharp humor and big heart. The show follows the lives of citizens in Letterkenny, Ontario, which hosts a colorful cast of skids, country bumpkins, and jock hockey players. The comedy series stars Jared Keeso, Nathan Dales, K. Trevor Wilson, and Michelle Mylett. Season 9 exclusively hits Hulu on December 26.

Leaving Hulu in December
As always every month, streaming services seemingly give as much as they take away. This December is no different as Hulu has a lot of good content heading out the door by the end of the month. So here are some recommendations for what you should watch before it’s gone. Starting off with a classic that has its own cult following, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a musical unlike any other. Full of insane and visually wonder-filled characters, it’s sure to either make you a fan or leave you with a confused expression on your face. If you want something a little more moody, then Interview with the Vampire is a horror classic. Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise both playing Vampires from the 1800s in a tale about their adventures and horrors throughout their many years of life. Just as fast as they add it, they take it away. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is being added to Hulu on December 1st, and it leaves on the 31st just as quickly as it got here, so make sure to catch it if you haven’t dived in before. Some other classic films leaving are the Bourne trilogy, in case you’re having a desire to see some great action flicks. Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull is an all-timer and one of De Niro’s best performances, an absolute must-watch.
