This March, HBO Max is fulfilling a void that other streaming services simply can’t keep up with. The movie season usually starts to pick up this time of the year, recovering from the slow turnout of January and February. Theaters are still closed in many regions, but that is looking to change as more and more people receive vaccinations across the globe. For the first time in over a year, there might be some sort of light at the end of the tunnel for cinemas. Though HBO Max has already been getting ahead by debuting their biggest films at home, and things might take a big turn for the service this March.
Two highly-anticipated titles are debuting, Godzilla vs. Kong and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Both are huge, epic-like tales that were first originally conceived for theaters. They are now placing their bets in March, and the estimates of their success is still somewhat vague. Both titles boast widespread hype on the internet, one having a notorious backstory that has been making waves for 3 years, though many are still wondering as to how many people at home will actually tune in? This reason simply comes from the fact that these are new milestones in their own right. A live-action Godzilla and King Kong movie in streaming? A 4-hour director’s cut of a comic-book film? And the fact that both titles are trying to restore good faith in their IP with general audiences? Goes to say that all eyes are going to be on HBO Max’s streaming numbers this March.
Check out the whole list of titles coming to and leaving HBO Max in March below. See what’s also in store for Disney+ and Netflix!
Our Recs:
Godzilla vs. Kong
The match-up of the year, right from the comfort of home! Godzilla vs. Kong is one of the biggest films Warner Bros. is releasing on HBO Max this year, in the most literal sense. With promotion currently in high gear, fans couldn’t be more excited to see the two icons meet again after their classic 1962 face-off. As of now, this is still reportedly the last film in the “Monsterverse” (or at least the last to feature Godzilla). Continuing the story of 2019’s divisive King of the Monsters, returning stars Kyle Chandler and Millie Bobby Brown are joined by Alexander Skarsgård, Eiza González, Danai Gurira, Rebecca Hall, and Julian Dennison.
Will this live up to its epic expectations? Find out when Godzilla vs. Kong hits HBO Max March 31!
Zack Snyder’s Justice League
The hype around Zack Snyder’s Justice League could not possibly be stronger. After a successful 3-year fan campaign, people will finally be able to see the director’s unaltered vision for the one and only Justice League. Clocking in at 4 hours, everything fans were originally promised is definitely on the table this time. Depending on how much of a success this is on HBO Max, the door could be opened for other projects in similar situations finding fruition in the future. At the very least, it’s almost a certain that the live-action DC films will continue the narrative threads Zack Snyder finally got to fulfill here.
Could this be everything fans ever wanted and more? All shall be revealed when Zack Snyder’s Justice League hits HBO Max March 18!
Superman: The Animated Series

Coming just in time, Superman: The Animated Series will find a nice home on HBO Max this March. Fans will be pleased to see it join Batman: The Animated Series. Although the former doesn’t always get the same level of praise as the latter. Superman’s adventures are just as worth the time, and Bruce Timm’s signature animation is always worth appreciating. The series drops one day before Zack Snyder’s Justice League, so it should make for a great appetizer while fans wait.

Leaving HBO Max in March
There aren’t many titles leaving HBO Max this month, a welcome surprise. As usual, Judas and the Black Messiah and Tom & Jerry will be leaving one month after their streaming exclusivity from February. Shazam! and Detective Pikachu are two titles that are unfortunate to lose (especially the former since it’s a strong month for DC), but they will surely pop up somewhere accessible soon after.
