Live-Action ‘Fairly OddParents’ Reboot To Begin Filming in June (EXCLUSIVE)

We have learned that the live-action Fairly OddParents reboot will begin filming at the end of June in Los Angeles.

Butch Hartman, the creator of the original animated Fairly OddParents cartoon (as well as the iconic Danny Phantom), will executive produce this reboot alongside Fred Siebert. Siebert is known as a famous entrepreneur in TV animation, starting his career on Spongebob SquarePants and Dexter’s Laboratory and then going on to executive produce the entire original Fairly OddParents run as well as Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time and Netflix’s Castlevania.

Nickelodeon veteran Christopher J. Nowak has been hired as the showrunner for the reboot. His credits include writing and producing various episodes of Victorious, Sam & Cat, Henry Danger, and Danger Force.

Although this new iteration is expected to follow the same general plot as the original animated show, still being set in the iconic Dimmsdale location for instance, it is still expected to spice up the lore by adding new characters while also changing the origins of existing ones in order to keep the series fresh for both new and older audiences. It is currently unknown as to how much this reboot will deviate from the beloved Fairly OddParents everyone has come to know, or if the creators will even acknowledge the previous live-action films that starred Drake Bell as Timmy Turner.

Paramount+ will be the home of this new live-action reimagining, with the streaming service also currently in production on a revival of the Nickelodeon hit, iCarly, which they have modernized for today’s generation. They are in full steam with developing new shows based on Nickelodeon IP, starting with a new CGI animated Rugrats show this year. Avatar Studios is currently producing new films and television based on the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe (as their name suggests). A live-action Dora The Explorer series in the same vein as the 2019 movie is also in the works.

All of these projects follow in the footsteps of Paramount+ and Nickelodeon’s first title for the streaming service, Kamp Koral, which explored the origins of iconic SpongeBob characters.

Paramount+ will also be home to more highly-anticipated titles, such as the first ever live-action Halo television series, a Pet Sematary prequel, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds which will follow the USS Enterprise under Anson Mount’s Captain Pike. In addition, films such as A Quiet Place 2 and Mission Impossible 7 will release early on Paramount+, 30 – 45 days after their theatrical debuts.

Given the current production start date of late June, it can be assumed that the live-action Fairly OddParents reboot will premiere on Paramount+ in 2022.
