Marvel Studios has released their upcoming MCU slate, with a brand new sizzle reel reminiscing on the past three phases of their cinematic universe, whilst looking ahead to the plethora of projects that are yet to come. With several films having been pushed back due to the ongoing affects of COVID-19 on the film industry, this reel featured the newly announced dates for several of the MCU’s releases up until May of 2023. The announcement also hinted at projects still to be announced, with the video ending on a tease of Jon Watts’ Fantastic 4 film, and multiple projects hinting towards a future Young Avengers project.
Following the success of the Disney+ releases The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Wandavision, the MCU looks set to dominate pop culture discussion for many years to come. Let’s take a look at the most exciting reveals within this sizzle reel, and a sneak peak of where this comic-book movie juggernaut is heading!
First look at Chloé Zhao’s ‘Eternals‘

Eternals is perhaps the most mysterious project on Marvel’s upcoming slate and has been highly anticipated since the studio’s San Diego’s Comic Con panel back in the summer of 2019, where the cast was ceremoniously revealed. Directed by Chloé Zhao, who is hot off the heels of her Oscar wins for Best Director and Best Picture, Eternals is set to introduce audiences to an entirely new team of immortal heroes. The film will welcome some of the most admired talents in the industry to the MCU including the likes of Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani and kit Harrington.
Black Panther Sequel Title Reveal

Following Black Panther’s immensely successful 2018 release, ‘Wakanda Forever’ became the most iconic salute in popular culture, often used to celebrate and signify black excellence. In the wake of the tragic and untimely passing of star Chadwick Boseman, this title could be thought of as a tribute to his timeless legacy. The film is set to release on July 8th 2022.
Captain Marvel Sequel Title Reveal

Starring not one, but two iconic characters taking a mantle composed of the franchise’s name, the sequel to Captain Marvel has been officially titled The Marvels. Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris set to return as their characters Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau. Industry new comer Iman Vellani will make her debut as the titular character in the Ms Marvel Disney+ original show, but will also star alongside Larson and Parris in her feature debut.
New 2022 and 2023 Slate Release Dates

Two brand new release dates have been revealed. Although the year of their releases had previously been disclosed, we now have the exact dates when we will be able to witness Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guaradians of the Galaxy Volume 3 on the big screen. The filming of the Ant Man franchise’s third installment began in February of 2021. Turkey is the first country they have initially shot in but are also expected to film in London and Atlanta before the movie’s release on the 17th of February 2023. Similarly, we will not be seeing the Guardians of the Galaxy in their own film until May 5th 2023, five whole years after the sequel’s release. However, we will be seeing some of the team in Thor: Love and Thunder when it releases early next year.
New Footage From Upcoming Summer Blockbuster ‘Black Widow’

After many delayed release dates due to the ongoing pandemic, Natasha Romanoff’s long awaited solo film is nearly here. Releasing July 9th 2021 in cinemas and on Disney+ concurrently, Black Widow will show us the beloved character’s journey between the events of Civil War and Infinity War. This sizzle reel offered a few new glimpses of Scarlett Johansson starring alongside Romanoff’s presumably makeshift Red Room family played by Florence Pugh, David Harbour and Rachel Weisz.
