Thomas Haden Church Cast As Lobster Johnson In ‘Hellboy’ (EXCLUSIVE)

by Jacob Fisher

With the upcoming ‘Hellboy’ reboot film being delayed to April 2019, I have learned from multiple sources of a new casting detail for the film which answers a question that has been on many people’s minds.

In a interview with JoBlo earlier this year, Thomas Haden Church revealed to JoBlo Editor-In-Chief Paul Shirey that he would be starring in a upcoming comic book movie:

PAUL: You played a Spider-Man villain many years back and I’m curious what your thoughts are now that the genre has taken off and if you have any desire to return to that and be a part of the comic-book world or even play Sandman again. It really kind of blew up after SPIDER-MAN 3 when IRON MAN came out. I’m just curious what your thoughts are on that whole genre take off…

THOMAS HADEN CHURCH: I’m not supposed to talk about it, but I actually have returned, but not in the Marvel world, it’s another world, but it is in that genre of superheroes and supervillains. I’m not supposed to talk about it, it’s a movie I shot last year. They’re trying to keep it-and good luck to ‘em-with, y’know, today man, I’m surprised it hasn’t already kinda been revealed.

Yes, the mystery comic book movie role that Thomas Haden Church hinted at earlier this year is a role in the upcoming ‘Hellboy’ reboot starring David Harbour. Thomas Haden Church will play the iconic Hellboy character of Lobster Johnson, who is described as a “vigilante who worked in secret in New York City during the 1930s who had a reputation for violence and burning his trademark lobster claw symbol into foreheads.”

It is currently unknown how the character will play into the film and how large of a role the character will have but what we do know is that Thomas Haden Church will play Lobster Johnson in ‘Hellboy’.

Thomas Haden Church’s reps have no comment on this story.
