Back in August 2017, A live-action TV reboot of the 1960s Hanna-Barbera animated series ‘The Jetsons’ landed a pilot order at ABC Studios.

It was reported at the time that Gary Janetti would write and executive produce the project alongside Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke whilst Jackie Levine will co-executive produce. The studios producing the pilot include Warner Bros. Television, Nickleby, Inc. and Compari Entertainment.

We have now been told that not only will Zemeckis executive produce the pilot like previously reported, but that the iconic director from ‘Back to the Future’ will also direct the pilot.

It is currently unknown when the pilot will begin filming but chances are that it will begin filming either later this year or in March next year once the next spring pilot season begins.

ABC are yet to provide a comment regarding Zemeckis directing the pilot.
