Hobbs & Shaw is the first spinoff from the main ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise and the studio isn’t pulling any punches to prove that the franchise can work, even outside of the main series of films. The film will be directed by David Leitch and written by Chris Morgan and the film will focus on Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw going up against the superpowered Brixton who will played by Idris Elba.
Alongside Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Idris Elba, the cast will also feature Vanessa Kirby, Eiza Gonzalez, Helen Mirren and Keanu Reeves as Hobbs and Shaw form their unlikely alliance. Recently though, we have also learned of another casting addition for the film, someone who has previously worked with David Leitch.
Ryan Reynolds will be joining the cast of ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ in a cameo role as a CIA agent who recruits Hobbs, he also will have a past history with Hobbs which could lead to audiences seeing the further fleshing out of Hobbs’ character. Reynolds’ role in this film leaves the option open for him to return in a larger role in the sequel. This will be Ryan Reynolds’ onscreen reunion with David Leitch who previously worked with him on ‘Deadpool 2’.
‘Hobbs & Shaw’ is set to release on August 2nd and will begin a new era in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise.
