At the beginning of this year, Apple TV+ accepted a deal for an upcoming sci-fi series from Simon Kinberg and David Weil. We have learned that development has advanced and that the series will be tentatively titled ‘Ray James’. It is set to have the largest budget of any Apple TV+ series.
Audrey Chon, Chad Feehan and Amy Kaufman will executive produce the series with Simon Kinberg and David Weil set to write and executive produce. Jakob Verbruggen will direct the first episode, who previously worked with Kinberg on Jordan Peele’s ‘The Twilight Zone’. Production is set to begin in October and will shoot in the United Kingdom, Japan, New York and Jordan.
This is one of two large budget sci-fi series’ in development for Apple TV+ with a television adaption of Isaac Asimov‘s ‘Foundation’ in development with David S. Goyer attached as showrunner, Josh Friedman to write and executive produce and David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Marcy Ross and Robyn Asimov set to executive produce. Production will begin on November 11th in Prague, Czech Republic and Ireland.
