We have learned that Sam Raimi, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods are in talks to direct episodes of Quibi’s upcoming anthology series ’50 States of Fear’.
’50 States of Fear’ is a short form anthology series currently being developed by Tony DiSanto for Jeffrey Katzenberg’s Quibi streaming service with Sam Raimi set to executive produce the series. ’50 States of Fear’ follows scary stories that are based on myths and urban legends from each US state, we have learned Sam Raimi is currently in talks to direct at least the first episode for Quibi.
Sam Raimi is known for his various work directing films such as the ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy, ‘The Evil Dead’, ‘Evil Dead II’, ‘Army of Darkness’ and ‘Darkman’. He has recently produced ‘Don’t Breathe’, ‘Poltergeist’, ‘Crawl’, ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ and the upcoming ‘Grudge’ reboot.
Scott Beck and Bryan Woods will also direct at least one episode of the series, their credits including executive producing and writing John Krasinski’s ‘A Quiet Place’ as well as writing and directing their recent film ‘Haunt’. ‘Haunt’ follows a group of friends on Halloween who encounter an “extreme” haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears.
We have learned that cinematographers Michael Wale and Tony Mirza have also joined the crew for ’50 States Of Fear’. Wale’s credits include ‘Fringe’, ‘Almost Human’, ‘iZombie’, ‘The End of the World As We Know It’, ‘Somwehere Between’ and the recent pilot for The CW’s ‘The Lost Boys’. Mirza’s credits include ‘Once Upon A Time’, ‘Dead of Summer’, ‘Supergirl’, ‘Warcraft: The Beginning’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in Wonderland’.
Production for the series is eyeing to begin later this year and will likely release on Quibi with the streaming service’s launch.
