We have learned that David Walliams will write and produce ‘Bad Dad’, based on the children’s book that he also wrote. The film will be distributed on Netflix.

‘Bad Dad’ is David Walliams’ 10th novel, Walliams is known as the UK’s bestselling children’s fiction author. The novel follows a boy named Frank whose dad is thrown into prison following driving the getaway car in a bank robbery. Frank then hatches a daring plan to break his father out of prison for the night so they can put the stolen money back whilst the evil crime boss Mr Big attempts to stop them.

‘Bad Dad’ will be David Walliams’ writing debut for a feature film, he recently worked with Netflix on ‘Murder Mystery’ where he starred as Tobey Quince alongside Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.

Bryan Unkeless will produce the film through his Screen Arcade production company, the company signed a multi-year deal with Netflix in 2018 which allows Netflix to get a first look at any film that Bryan Unkeless or his producing partner Eric Newman want to produce.

Screen Arcade is currently developing ‘Bright 2’ for Netflix alongside Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman’s upcoming film for Netflix that will star Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Jamie Foxx. Unkeless most recently produced ‘Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey’ for Warner Bros.

As of writing, there is no director attached to the project.
