We have learned that Charlie Day has joined the cast for ‘I Want You Back’ from screenwriters Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker. The film will focus on two recently-dumped people who team up to try and ruin their exes’ new relationships.

Charlie Day has recently co-created ‘Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet’ for Apple TV+ which follows employees in a video game development studio exploring the “intricacies of the human condition through hilarious and innovative ways.” As for his acting career, his latest projects include ‘Pacific Rim Uprising’, ‘Hotel Artemis’ and reprising his voice role as Benny in ‘The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part’.

He recently just wrapped his next film ‘El Tonto’ which he wrote, direct and starred in. The film’s plot reportedly follows a “fool for love becoming an accidental celebrity only to lose it all.” Travis Fimmel, Kate Beckinsale, Katherine McNamara and Adrien Brody are among the huge stars that will appear in the star-studded ensemble for ‘El Tonto’. It is unknown when ‘El Tonto’ will release as of now.

Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker will write the screenplay for the film. They wrote the screenplay for Fox 2000’s ‘Love, Simon’ adaption and are now currently writing and executive producing ‘Love, Victor’, a spinoff series to ‘Love, Simon’ starring Michael Cimino in the lead role. The series recently was moved from Disney+ to Hulu with a second season already in the works.

Up-and-coming director Jason Orley will direct the upcoming film. He has previously directed ‘Big Time Adolescence’ where a suburban teenager comes of age under the destructive guidance of his best friend, an aimless college dropout. Pete Davidson, Sydney Sweeney, Griffin Gluck, Jon Cryer and Machine Gun Kelly star in the film.

Peter Safran will produce the film through his production company The Safran Company which recently just wrapped production on ‘The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It’. The production company has recently been involved with ‘Aquaman’, ‘Shazam!’ and ‘Annabelle Comes Home’.

The film is eyeing to begin filming in Summer in Atlanta.
