George Tillman Jr Set To Direct ‘George Foreman’ Biopic (EXCLUSIVE)

We have learned that George Tillman Jr is set to direct a biopic focused on boxing legend George Foreman.

George Tillman Jr has previously directed episodes of ‘This Is Us’ and ‘Luke Cage’ as well as movies such as ‘Soul Food’, ‘Men of Honor’, ‘Notorious’, ‘Faster’, ‘The Longest Ride’ and ‘The Hate U Give’. Tillman Jr has also produced all ‘Barbershop’ films including ‘Barbershop’, ‘Barbershop 2: Back in Business’ and ‘Barbershop: The Next Cut’ as well as serving as executive producing Dee Rees’ ‘Mudbound’ for Netflix.

David Zelon will produce the film through his Mandalay Pictures production company, they have recently produced Pentrice Penny’s ‘Uncorked’, Edson Oda’s ‘Nine Days’, Clark Johnson’s ‘Juanita’ and Jonathan Helpert’s ‘IO’ starring Anthony Mackie and Margaret Qualley.

George Edward Foreman was born in January 10, 1949 who is an American former professional boxer that competed between 1969 and 1997. Nicknamed “Big George”, he is a two-time world heavyweight champion and an Olympic gold medalist.

The iconic George Foreman Grill is promoted and named by former boxing champion George Foreman. It is a portable electrically heated grill manufactured by Spectrum Brands. Since its introduction in 1994, over 100 million George Foreman grills have been sold worldwide.

Production is eyed to begin later this year.
