We have learned that Steve Carr is set to direct and produce a new untitled comedy film for Netflix.

Carr has previously directed Fox’s ‘Dr Dolittle 2’, ‘Next Friday’, ‘Daddy Day Care’, ‘Rebound’, ‘Are We Done Yet?’ and most recently, ‘Middle School: The Worst Years of my Life’. Carr is most notably known for directing ‘Paul Blart Mall Cop’, the film starred Kevin James as Paul Blart, a security guard who must save the day after the shopping mall he protects is taken over by a gang of organised crooks.

Matt Flanagan, Dave McHugh and Peter Hoare will write the screenplay for the film. Sian McArthur is set to executive produce with Heidi Santelli set to produce.

Sources say that the film will follow a self-absorbed teenager who loses the money he was supposed to deliver to a charity, he now must contend with a middle-aged nemesis to try and get the money back.

The film is planned to be released on Netflix likely early next year.
