We have learned that Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is confirmed to direct a new fantasy film ‘Damsel’ for Netflix with Patrick Tatopoulos set to serve as production designer on the film.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is known to have directed ‘28 Weeks Later’, a film that has become popular once again due to ongoing coronavirus pandemic. ‘28 Weeks Later’ is set six months after a rage virus was inflicted on the population of Great Britain, the US Army helps to secure a small area of London for the survivors to repopulate and start again. But not everything goes according to plan.

Fresnadillo is also still attached to direct a live-action remake of ‘The Sword in the Stone’ for Disney+ however there have been no updates on that project in a while.

Patrick Tatopoulos has worked as production designer on ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, ‘Justice League’, ‘Maleficent 2’ and ‘Indepdence Day’ among many other films.

Dan Mazeau is set to write the screenplay with Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum set to produce the film through their production company Roth Kirschenbaum Films which recently worked on ‘Fast and Furious 9’.

The film will follow a princess that thinks she is marrying a prince to help her father, who requires the money her marriage will bring for him. After marrying the Prince, the princess realizes she’s been tricked into becoming a sacrificial offering for a cruel dragon who intends to eat her.

Netflix is aiming to release the film sometime in 2021.
