We have learned that Peter Sollett is set to direct ‘Metal Lords’ for Netflix’. ‘Game of Thrones’ creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff will produce the film and D.B. Weiss will also write the film.

This will be one of Benioff & Weiss’ first projects after departing ‘Game of Thrones’ as well as signing their highly valued overall deal with Netflix.

Greg Shapiro will produce the film. Shapiro has recently produced ‘Detroit’, ‘The Professor’, ‘Serenity’ and most recently ‘The Rhythm Section’. ‘The Rhythm Section’ is written by Mark Burnell, directed by Reed Morano and follows a woman who seeks revenge against those who orchestrated a plane crash that killed her family.

Peter Sollett, who will direct the film, has previously directed ‘Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist’, ‘Freeheld’ and ‘Raising Victor Vargas’. He also recently directed two episodes of CBS’ ‘Evil’.

Sollett is set to direct the upcoming ‘Minecraft’ film for Warner Bros which is still very much in active development.

The plot for ‘Metal Lords’ follows two kids who want to start a heavy metal band in a high school, where only two people care about heavy metal, they also find a girl who is very good at cello. The three of them decide to settle their differences and work together, so they can win the Battle of the Bands.
