Ronny Chieng Joins ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend Of The Ten Rings’ (EXCLUSIVE)

We have learned that Ronny Chieng has been cast in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in an undisclosed role.

Sources say that the actor signed on to star in the film before production was shut down, it is unknown if he has filmed his scenes yet.

Chieng previously starred as Eddie Chieng in Crazy Rich Asians and as himself in Ronny Chieng: International Student which premiered on ABC and Comedy Central Asia in 2017. He is currently a senior correspondent on The Daily Show for Comedy Central.

Ronny Chieng is also a stand-up comedian and recently debuted his own stand-up special for Netflix titled Ronny Chieng: Asian Comedian Destroys America!

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, written by Dave Callaham and stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh and Tony Chiu-Wai Leung.

The film will now release in May 7, 2021 after the film was delayed from its original February 2021 release date due to the coronavirus pandemic. With production for the film currently on hold, it is currently unknown when Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be able to resume filming.

When we reached out to Ronny Chieng’s reps for comment, they confirmed this story.
