We have learned that Juan Antonio Bayona is set to direct ‘Truce’ for Warner Bros with Stuart Beattie set to write the screenplay.

The film will be a World War 1 focused film that will follow a squadron of soldiers, who are on the front line during the First World War, have an opportunity to recapture their humanity with the infamous Christmas Truce of 1914.

Scott Foley (‘Whiskey Cavalier’) will executive produce. Jonathan King (‘Roma’, ‘Green Book’) and Elaine Chin (‘The Dreaming Man’) will produce. Participant will be the production company behind the film, they have previously been involved with films such as ‘Just Mercy’, ‘Roma’, ‘Green Book’, ‘The Post’, ‘Wonder’ and ‘Captive State’. The production company is currently developing ‘Stillwater’ with Tom McCarthy directing and an untitled Fred Hampton film from director Shaka King.

Bayona has previously directed ‘The Orphange’, ‘The Impossible’, ‘A Monster Calls’ and ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ which went on to earn over $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office. He will also direct the first two episodes of Amazon’s ‘The Lord of the Rings’ series.

Stuart Beattie will write the screenplay. He previously wrote the screen story for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest’ and the screenplays for ‘30 Days At Night’, ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’, ‘Danger Close’ and ‘Australia’. He also wrote and directed ‘I, Frankenstein’.

Given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it is uncertain when production will begin on the film.
