Disney+ has got a fantastic lineup for February 2023. Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will hit the streaming service at the very beginning of the month. Two special presentations on the latest MCU film are also arriving in the following weeks, Marvel Studios’ Assembled: The Making of Black Banter: Wakanda Forever and Voices Rising: The Music of Wakanda Forever. Looks like there will be no shortage of goodies waiting at home for Marvel fans while they go out and see Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in theaters this February too. Wakanda Forever was the official ending to Marvel’s Phase 4, and with Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror now taking center stage in the Ant-Man threequel, there’s no telling what Phase 5 of the MCU has in store.

The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder Season 2 is also premiering on Disney+ in February 2023. Along with the aforementioned Black Panther releases and the debut of Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, this makes for a strong collection of Disney+ titles for subscribers to enjoy during Black History Month. In other worlds, fans can enjoy the ongoing second season of the hit animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch this February. The Disney+ original series National Treasure: Edge of History will reach its season one finale in the incoming weeks as well.

Lastly, Disney+ subscribers should look out for the February 2023 release of Dug Days: Carl’s Date. The next installment in the Pixar short series will follow everyone’s favorite animated Golden Retriever as he accompanies Carl Fredricksen in his first attempt at dating since the passing of his wife Ellie, which was shown in the opening of Up. Read on for more on our monthly recs and see the full list of everything coming to Disney+ in February 2023 below! You can also find this month’s newest additions and removals from Netflix and HBO Max right here on DiscussingFilm.

Our Recs:

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever | Official Trailer

The 30th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe follows the aftermath of King T’Challa’s untimely passing. The spirit of Chadwick Boseman is felt throughout Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as writer-director Ryan Coogler’s sequel is as much a testament to the actor’s legacy as it is a meditation on grief and loss. This mourning is mainly felt through Princess Shuri (Letitia Wright) and Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), and the latter’s work has gone on to reach great success in the 2023 awards season. Angela Bassett is currently leading the Best Supporting Actress Oscars race for her turnout in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, having already won at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, and many more. If she wins the Oscar, Bassett would become the first performer to win an Academy Award for an acting role in the MCU.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits Disney+ February 1, 2023!

The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder – Season 2

The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder Season 2 | Official Trailer | Disney+

The hit animated Disney sitcom is back. The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder will deliver more hijinks with Penny Proud (Kyla Pratt), Oscar Proud (Tommy Davidson), Suga Momma (Jo Marie Payton), and the gang. Keke Palmer, Billy Porter, Zachary Quinto, and Asante Blackk will reprise their newer characters who debuted in the first season of this revival. But that’s not all, for The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder Season 2 also has an impressive guest star lineup, including musicians Chance the Rapper and Normani as well as Olympic gymnasts Dominique Dawes, Gabby Douglas, and Laurie Hernandez. Fans can expect to see Gabrielle Union, Leslie Odom Jr., Anthony Anderson, Jane Lynch, Storm Reid, and Courtney B. Vance pop in for some fun too. With this much momentum heading into only its second season, it’s looking like this Disney+ original still has a long way to go.

The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder – Season 2 kicks off on Disney+ February 1, 2023!

Dug Days: Carl’s Date

‘Carl’s Date’ is the latest installment in Dug Days, Pixar’s animated short Disney+ series created and written by Bob Peterson – the voice of Dug himself. Originally released in 2021 and consisting of 5 episodes, this extra addition follows Carl Fredricksen as he attempts to date for the first time since his wife Eillie passed away. Anyone who’s seen Pixar’s Up can attest to the emotional power of those first ten minutes as audiences see Carl’s tragic backstory of losing his wife to illness. Legendary actor Ed Asner recorded all his dialogue for Dug Days prior to his passing at the age of 91 in 2021. Bob Peterson has confirmed that new lines for ‘Carl’s Date’ were also included, which makes this another posthumous vocal performance from Asner. ‘Carl’s Date’ will arrive on Disney+ just in time for Valentine’s Day 2023.

Dug Days: Carl’s Date premieres on Disney+ February 10, 2023!
