After a long wait of over 2 years, Ted is finally returning to Peacock this week with an all-new season. Created by Seth MacFarlane (‘Family Guy’) and starring Max Burkholder (‘The Purge’), Scott Grimes (‘The Orville’), Giogria Whigham (‘The Punisher’) and Alanna Ubach (‘Euphoria’), the series follows John and Ted in the events before the first film as they come-of-age through misadventures in high school and college. The first season of Ted, based on the 2 acclaimed comedy films from Seth MacFarlane (‘Family Guy’), debuted with even more critical acclaim than the films, earning a 74% approval rating from critics as well as a 90% approval rating from audiences.
The series even boasted a major ratings record for Peacock at the time as Ted quickly became the most-watched original series on the platform in its opening weekend. While it still took a number of months for the series to be renewed after that success and equally another long time until Season 2 was filmed and VFX was completed, the anticipation for Ted Season 2 has still been as big as ever with audiences eager to reacquaint themselves with Ted’s hilarious antics.

What’s Next for The Ted Universe on Peacock?
The success of Ted on Peacock has led to another series in the universe going into development. An animated Ted series recently entered production from exec producer Seth MacFarlane, the difference with this series compared to the live-action iteration is that this new animated series will serve as a sequel to the 2 theatrical films with Mark Wahlberg and Amanda Seyfried set to reprise their roles in a voice capacity. In an interview with ComicBook, Seth MacFarlane explained that the decision to make the sequel series animated was because of the labourous undertaking that it involves to bring Ted to life in live-action:
“I think, oftentimes, people don’t realize that it’s like you are doing an Avengers movie every 20 minutes with the amount of CGI and the amount of care and skill and brilliant animators, both here and in Melbourne, Australia, who lend their talents to bringing this bear to life.
The one thing the animated series allowed us to do, that we couldn’t do with a live-action show, was pull together people like Mark Wahlberg and Amanda Seyfried – people who are really busy in the film world and would probably not be available to do television in any capacity – to come in and do an hour’s worth of voiceover work each work is a little more manageable for them with their schedules. So, it allowed us to pick up after the second movie finished.”
All episodes of Ted Season 2 release on Peacock tomorrow, a small departure from Season 1 which employed a weekly release. While there is certainly controversy around a binge release – with many fans on social media recently enjoying the anticipation of weekly releases for other major TV shows – it is undeniably that fans will want to watch every episode of Ted Season 2 immediately after returning to that hilarious universe in Season 1.
