We have learned that Deborah Riley, who served as the production designer for ‘Game of Thrones’ from Season 4 to Season 8, will be the production designer for the upcoming ‘Game of Thrones’ spinoff series ‘House of the Dragon’.

Riley has also worked on the production design for ‘Nothing Left to Fear’ and ‘Demonic’.

HBO’s ‘House of the Dragon’ is set 300 years before the events of the original show and tells the story of House Targaryen, the royal line which includes Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen.

The news of the prequel’s pickup from HBO came shortly after they cancelled a spin-off pilot for another ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel from executive producer Jane Goldman and director S.J. Clarkson.

Miguel Sapochnik will write, direct and executive produce episodes of the series. Sapochnik is currently in post-production on his upcoming film ‘Bios’ which stars Caleb Landry Jones and Tom Hanks. Ryan J. Condal will write and executive produce alongside Sapochnik, he has previously written the screenplays for ‘Hercules’ and ‘Rampage’.

Vince Gerardis and ‘Game of Thrones’ creator George R.R. Martin, who also executive produced the original show, will return to executive produce ‘House of the Dragon’.

The series will debut sometime between 2021-2022 with production likely to begin in late 2020.
