Jon Favreau is into production on his new Star Wars TV Series for the upcoming Disney+ Streaming Service, this show, of course, is ‘The Mandalorian’. ‘The Mandalorian’ is one of three (more to be announced) ‘Star Wars’ TV Series’ coming to Disney+, the other two being ‘The Clone Wars’ Season 7 and the recently announced Cassian Andor TV Series that will see Diego Luna reprise his role from ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’.

Dave Flioni, known for developing ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ and ‘Star Wars Rebels’ for Lucasfilm, is currently directing the pilot episode of the show and is joined by Taika Waititi (‘Thor Ragnarok’), Rick Famiuywa (‘Dope’), Deborah Chow (‘Jessica Jones’) and first time director Bryce Dallas Howard (known for her various roles including her lead role in the ‘Jurassic World’ franchise) who will all direct episodes of the series.

Lucasfilm has kept very tight-lipped on who the cast for ‘The Mandalorian’ consists of. Previously, we’ve reported that Taika Waititi and Bryce Dallas Howard are rumored to be potentially having minor roles in the series, with Waititi set to voice a droid however, we have learned of a rumored casting for ‘The Mandalorian’ from our friends at MakingStarWars that we are also able to confirm.

MakingStarWars reported on their podcast that Carl Weathers, known for his iconic as Apollo Creed in the ‘Rocky’ series, would have a role in ‘The Mandalorian’. This week, we reached out to sources of our own who corroborated MakingStarWars’ report, we also reached out to Weathers’ reps who said they can provide no comment on this story at this time.

Although this news still should be taken with a grain of salt, it’s important to also look at MakingStarWars’ track record, especially with ‘The Mandalorian’ as most notably, they were the first to learn the news of the premise of the show, hence why this outlet is a very reliable source for news on ‘The Mandalorian’.

We are currently unsure on what character Carl Weathers will play in ‘The Mandalorian’ however, we can speculate that he likely will not be the lead role of the “lone gunfighter” (as described by the synopsis). We shall update this report if we discover who Carl Weathers’ character  will be in ‘The Mandalorian’ and also make sure to follow MakingStarWars on Twitter to keep updated on any developments both with this story and regarding ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘Star Wars’ Universe as a whole.

The official synopsis for ‘The Mandalorian’  follows the galaxy “after the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”
