Disney+ is looking to bring the holiday cheer in December 2023, along with a few other special surprises. Starting at the beginning of the month, Disney+ subscribers can enjoy the streaming debut of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Harrison Ford’s last hoorah as the iconic character will be joined by a Disney+ original feature-length documentary titled Timeless Heroes: Indiana Jones & Harrison Ford. The doc will take fans behind the scenes as it traces Ford’s journey in the film industry and how he landed the role of Indiana Jones. Most of all, it will dive into why and how the character has lasted the test of time through interviews with Ford himself, Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, James Mangold, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and more. Indy’s last swashbuckling adventure is worth a worth alone for maestro John Williams’ sweeping score.

The Disney+ original two-episode premiere of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is expected to draw massive streaming numbers this month. Fans have been clamoring for a more accurate screen adaptation of Rick Riordan‘s popular book series of the same name for years now, and the author himself was heavily involved in this new project as series co-creator, executive producer, and writer. Riordan was open about his hate for the two previous film adaptions from the early 2010s starring Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, and Brandon T. Jackson. With this new series, the author could right the wrongs of the past and deliver to the fans what they’ve been asking years for. After a long casting process, Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri were chosen to lead the show as Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood respectively.

Marvel lovers aren’t leaving December 2023 empty-handed either for the long-awaited Disney+ original premiere of What If…? Season 2 is finally on the horizon. It’s been two years since the first season of the Marvel Studios animated series. but thankfully audiences won’t have to wait long to enjoy this second season in full. All 9 episodes of What If…? Season 2 will be releasing daily following its premiere – which might come off as a surprise to Disney+ subscribers who’ve already gotten used to a weekly release schedule. It’s a much-welcome change of pace as people patiently wait for next year’s lineup of Marvel shows, including Echo, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, Marvel Zombies, X-Men ’97, and Spider-Man: Freshman Year.

Just in time for the holidays, the streaming service bringing the Season 2 finale of The Santa Clauses and a new animated Diary of a Wimpy Kid film. Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: Cabin Fever is the third animated Disney+ original adaptation of author Jeff Kinney’s famous children’s book series of the same name. On top of this, Disney+ subscribers can dive into the next three Doctor Who 60th Anniversary specials; Wild Blue Yonder, The Giggle, and The Church on Ruby Road, which is this year’s traditional holiday-themed special. There’s more ground to cover, so check out our monthly recs below and then see the full list of everything coming to Disney+ in December 2023.
