Prime Video subscribers have been able to enjoy tons of holiday originals so far in December 2023. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Imagine Entertainment, Candy Cane Lane starring Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross is at the top of this list. The family Christmas comedy follows a loving father who unknowingly makes a Faustian bargain with an evil Elf in order to win the annual neighborhood Christmas home decoration contest. Another recent addition is the British Christmas comedy sequel Your Christmas Or Mine 2, led by Asa Butterfield and Cora Kirk. The creative team and cast from the first film return but this time take the holiday antics to a luxury ski resort in the French Alps.
In terms of non-holiday-themed Prime Video originals, this month has the second seasons of Coach Prime and Reacher to offer. The former is a docuseries that follows famous college football head coach Deion Sanders. Coach Prime Season 2 will see “Prime Time” Sanders travel to Boulder, Colorado as he attempts to transform the Colorado Buffaloes football team into champions. Reacher, on the other hand, has quickly become one of Amazon’s biggest hits. Based on the book series by author Lee Child, Reacher Season 2 will adapt the 11th entry in the series, Bad Luck and Trouble. When members of his former U.S. Army unit start getting murdered one by one, veteran military police investigator Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) is left with no choice but to ditch his solo methods and team up with old allies to get to the bottom of this mystery.
December 2023 surprisingly has some surprises for DC fans as well. Prime Video has already released Merry Little Batman, in partnership with DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation, and will soon welcome Andy Muschietti’s The Flash to its streaming library. Merry Little Batman is a new feature-length animated film that follows Batman’s son Damian Wayne (Yonas Kibreab) on a holiday-themed adventure. When Bruce Wayne (Luke Wilson) leaves Damian home alone for the holidays, the young boy takes on the superhero role of “Little Batman” as he faces Gotham City’s greatest supervillains, including the Joker, the Penguin, Bane, and Poison Ivy, as they all threaten to steal Christmas.
The Flash, starring Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, Sasha Calle, and Michael Shannon, still stands as one of the largest box office bombs of 2023. Prime Video subscribers who didn’t get a chance to see it in theaters, or chose not to like many others evidently, can finally stream it in December 2023 to see what all the fuss is about. One new film coming to the platform this month that is a must-see is Wes Anderson‘s Asteroid City. The quirky comedy blends in other genres and emotions to make a compelling character study. Anderson directs yet another star-studded ensemble cast, featuring the likes of Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, and more.
Other notable titles that just got added to Prime Video in December 2023 include the original Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and a collection of classic Star Trek movies. Many beloved films and shows have just arrived on Amazon’s Freevee streaming service this month too, such as the original Men in Black trilogy and all nine seasons of The Middle. Additionally, Freevee has many animated films this December to keep the young ones entertained, like Illumination‘s The Secret Life of Pets 2 and Sing 2.
