New Arrivals for Disney+ and Hulu November 2024

Disney+ and Hulu always offer a bounty of new television shows and movies each month, especially for Disney Bundle subscribers, and November 2024 will be no different. The first of the new arrivals on Disney+ this November is a tribute to a true icon of cinema. The Disney+ original documentary film Music by John Williams, directed by Laurent Bouzerau, recalls the life and esteemed career of the legendary Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Jurassic Park composer. Featuring interviews with Williams himself, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Ron Howard, James Mangold, Ke Huy Quan, and more, Music By John Williams will be a special treat for Disney+ subscribers when it arrives on the streaming service at the start of November 2024.

On the Hulu side of things, the brand new Hulu original series Interior Chinatown, starring famed comedian Jimmy O. Yang, appears to provide a fun mix of action and comedy. The Hulu miniseries follows Willis Wu (Yang), a struggling actor who is stuck in a glorified background role on a cop show when he witnesses a real-life crime that piques his curiosity. His investigation puts him in the middle of a criminal underworld that ties in with his untold family history. Based on the novel by showrunner Charles Yu, Interior Chinatown boasts a great hook that will hopefully be a solid showcase for the talents of Jimmy O. Yang when it hits the streaming platform on November 19, 2024.

Another book adaptation for Hulu subscribers to take a gander at is the historical drama series Say Nothing, which premieres on the streamer as part of its “FX on Hulu” selection on November 14, 2024. FX’s Say Nothing follows a period of time and ethno-nationalist conflict in Belfast, Ireland, that took place in the 1970s-1990s. Audiences traverse this delicate time frame through the eyes of protagonist Dolours Price (Lola Pettigrew), who is a provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) volunteer. This part of Irish history has been occasionally covered in media, most recently in Kenneth Branagh’s Oscar-winning film Belfast, but this Hulu show promises a more incisive and sweeping portrait of the conflict than Branagh’s personal point of view.

Those in the mood for some holiday cheer will want to stream the new Disney+ original short film, An Almost Christmas Story, on November 15, 2024. Viewers follow Moon (Cary Christopher), a young Owl who gets stuck in the giant Christmas tree at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. When a lost little girl named Luna (Estella Madrigal) befriends him, the unlikely duo embark on a heartwarming adventure to find their parents. Directed by David Lowery (The Green Knight, Pete’s Dragon) and produced by Alfonso Cuarón (Roma, Gravity), there’s quite the pedigree on this stop-motion animated short, bolstered by its voice cast featuring Jim Gaffigan, Natasha Lyonne, Mamoudou Athie, and John C. Reilly.

Continuing with holiday-themed films, the comedy-drama Nutcrackers will be available on Hulu towards the end of November 2024. The streaming service acquired Nuckcrackers in an eight-figure deal shortly after it opened this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Director David Gordon Green (Halloween, The Exorcist: Believer) steps away from the world of horror for something more wholesome, and he’s bringing Ben Stiller along for the actor’s first lead role in 6 years. Stiller plays Mike, a city-dwelling workaholic who must move to rural Ohio to look after his sister’s kids after her tragic passing. Mike and his blue-collar nieces and nephews may seem unalike at first, but they soon help each other grieve and get through the holidays.

While not a Hulu original, the streamer will be getting a movie in November 2024 that’s new to the world of non-VOD streaming. That film is Thelma, starring June Squibb. Thelma, which premiered to a warm reception at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, features Squibb as the title character, who, along with her grandson (Fred Hechinger), goes on a cross-country trip to reclaim $10,000 that was scammed out of her on the phone. The hilarious and heartwarming comedy also features the final performance of actor Richard Roundtree and supporting performances from Parker Posey and Malcolm McDowell. Thelma is sure to gain many more fans when it gets added to the streaming giant on November 15, 2024.

Regarding older classics and fan favorites, Disney+ and Hulu have plenty of surprises in store for November 2024. Hulu especially has a plethora of Christmas movies, like the 1984 version of A Christmas Carol, the Danny DeVito-led comedy Deck the Halls, Christmas with the Kranks, and Jingle All the Way. For the Adam Sandler fans, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and both Grown Ups films are joining Hulu at the top of the month. Meanwhile, for something more intense but still actor-focused, Hulu subscribers can have a Nicolas Cage marathon this November and stream the two Ghost Rider and National Treasure movies. Additionally, Hulu is adding Chris Prine’s directorial debut, Poolman, on November 7, 2024, for those curious minds.

Last but not least, Disney+ is finally getting Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful on November 29, 2024. This, of course, is one week after the highly-anticipated Wicked movie adaptation starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande releases in theaters, making this fantastic timing for diehard Oz fanatics. Discover more on our monthly recs below, then check out the list of every movie and TV show coming to Disney+ and Hulu in November 2024.
