CinemaCon 2025 is nearing its end, with Paramount Pictures being the second-to-last Hollywood studio to give its slate presentation this year. Sony Pictures, Lionsgate, Warner Bros., Universal Pictures, and Amazon MGM have all provided presentations with unique and exciting titles. Plus, Disney is still to come later today. The official convention of Cinema United — previously known as the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) — CinemaCon has become one of the top news events for eager moviegoers. The annual event sees theater owners, distributors, exhibitors, industry professionals, journalists, and more unite at the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas to celebrate the communal theatrical experience and discuss what’s coming in the future.
Paramount Pictures must make an impression at CinemaCon 2025 if they want to stand out from this year’s memorable presentations. Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, the new animated Smurfs movie starring Rihanna, and Edgar Wright‘s adaptation of The Running Man starring Glen Powell are some of the heavy hitters Paramount is expected to bring to the Caesars Palace Colosseum. Moviegoers could also receive fresh updates on The Naked Gun remake, the animated movie Aang: The Last Airbender, and the much-talked-about Scream 7. Paramount always finds a way to throw in unexpected, shocking announcements during their annual CinemaCon presentations, so anything is on the table for today’s panel.
CinemaCon is not open to the public, which means no releases of exclusive footage and first-look reveals from the highly anticipated event. But look no further, as we at DiscussingFilm will be listing below every major news update and exclusive footage description LIVE from the Paramount Pictures CinemaCon 2025 studio presentation. Together, they premiered an exclusive trailer for Mission:Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which opens on the much anticipated set piece of Ethan Hunt hanging from a yellow planes in the middle of a dogfight.
The trailer is a big love letter to the Mission: Impossible franchise, especially as Ethan plugs himself into a computer and we are shown a close up of his pupils becoming digitized and we are given glimpses into past set pieces from previous films. From there on, the footage played very similarly to the previous trailers for The Final Reckoning. Fitting for the last installment of the franchise, this film seems to be replaying all the hits.

Exclusive Footage Description: CinemaCon 2025 audiences successfully got smurfed by an exclusive look at the new Rihanna-spearheaded animated Smurfs movie. The trailer opens with longtime Smurfs nemesis Gargamel trying to convene with other cohorts, only for his volume to be muted. The Smurfs are partying in Smurf Village to some new Rihanna songs, with Rihanna’s Smurfette taking the stage in the footage. Suddenly, a new sort of flower rises from the ground, sucking the Smurfs into the real world.
The trailer then proceeds to show The Smurfs interacting with live action footage, although there are no nonextra prominent human characters. The plot seems to involve the Smurfs going up against Gargamel and his brother. The animation looks something like the recent Peanuts animated film, with humor that’s more or less based around pop culture references. The film will likely appeal to children more than anything as it looks very similar to the previously released films, albeit with a new art style,
The SpongeBob Movie: The Search for SquarePants
Release Date: December 19, 2025.
Directed by Derek Drymon.
Based on SpongeBob SquarePants created by Stephen Hillenburg.
Produced by Pam Brady & Lisa Stewart.
Main Voice Cast: Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, Mr. Lawrence, & Mark Hamill.
Exclusive Footage Description: Mark Hamill and the voice of Spongebob, Tom Kenny, took the stage at CinemaCon 2025 to show attendees a first look at Paramount Animation’s The Spongebob Movie: The Search for Squarepants. The footage opens on a classic Spongebob tradition: a live-action pirate addresses the audience to tell them about a nautical tale of the Flying Dutchman (Mark Hamill) crossing paths with an innocent soul, Spongebob himself.
Hilariously, Spongebob wants to turn over a new leaf and become a “big man” — he blasts Snoop Dog from his speakers and pumps his chest lifting his plush weights. Mr. Krabs (Clancy Brown) tells Spongebob about his days on the sea, which motivates Spongebob and Patrick to go on an adventure to follow in his footsteps and go on a sailing adventure. When Spongebob and Patrick (Bill Fagerbakke) cross paths with the Flying Dutchman, he takes them to the underworld, where they must endure terrors beyond the sponge’s imagination, including scary rollercoasters. The Search for Squarepants boasts a mix of absurdist gags and a vibrant mix of live-action and 3D animation.
Roofman
Release Date: October 3, 2025.
Directed by Derek Cianfrance.
Written by Derek Cianfrance & Kirt Gunn.
Produced by Rachel Halilej, Lynette Howell Taylor, Alex Orlovsky, Jamie Patricof, & Dylan Sellers.
Main Cast: Channing Tatum, Juno Temple, Uzo Aruba, Peter Dinklage, Kirsten Dunst, Ben Mendelsohn, Lakeith Stanfield, Molly Price & Tony Revolori.
Exclusive Footage Description: Paramount Pictures debuted the first trailer for the new Channing Tatum starring-vehicle Roofman to the audience at CinemaCon 2025. The film follows the wild true story (told from a liar, as indicated in the trailer) of Jeffrey Manchester (Channing Tatum), a thief who robbed nearly 60 McDonald’s by entering through the roof. We open with one of Jeff’s robberies, where he’s extremely polite to the people he’s robbing, charmingly offering the manager, played by Tony Revolori, his jacket as he puts him in the freezer of the restaurant.
Moving on, the trailer shows Jeff as a loving family man with a special relationship with his daughter. But, sadly, Jeff is soon busted at his daughter’s birthday party and brought into jail. That’s where the trailer gets really interesting. Jeff busts out of jail very quickly and then finds an unlikely space to hide: the attic of a Walmart. What should be a place for him to lay low turns into a new home, as he gets romantically involved with a worker played by Kirsten Dunst and beefs with a manager played by Peter Dinklage, all while getting secret help from his friend played by Lakeith Stanfield.
It seems like he has everything set, yet Jeff doesn’t know if he can stay away from his daughter for this long. Roofman looks exciting, funny, and unexpected, a big shift from the likes of Derek Cianfrance’s Blue Valentine and The Place Beyond the Pines. More than anything, it looks like the perfect star vehicle for Tatum..
The Running Man
Release Date: November 7, 2025
Directed by Edgar Wright.
Screenplay by Michael Bacall, & Edgar Wright.
Based on The Running Man by Stephen King.
Produced by Audrey Chon, Simon Kinberg, Nira Park, Leo Thompson & Edgar Wright
Main Cast: Glen Powell, Lee Pace, Katy O’Brian, Josh Brolin, Colman Domingo, William H. Macy, & Michael Cera.
Exclusive Footage Description: Writer-director Edgar Wright and stars Glenn Powell, Colman Domingo, and Josh Brolin took the stage at Paramount’s CinemaCon 2025 panel to debut their new take on The Running Man with exclusive footage that’s as fresh as it can get as they only wrapped shooting a few weeks ago. We open on a dystopian future America and Glen Powell as Ben Richards, a man who finds himself in the middle of a popular game show/manhunt. Hosted by Bobby Thompson (Colman Domingo), the Running Man show sends its contestants all over the world as hired guns are sent to execute them.
The footage is action-packed, revealing numerous set pieces from the film, including a struggle in the cockpit of a plane as it drops from the sky, a tease of an extended hallway long take as Ben runs away from assassins, and a game of hot potato with grenade as he tries to escape through an elevator. “In America, we don’t put up with that bullshit,” says Bobby with chaotic glee while he’s well-dressed and in front of a blue and white distortion backdrop of the American flag. Powell called the film “not just flavors of what moviegoers like” but instead “a full meal” — and the footage for The Running Man shows that it’s full of spectacle.
The Naked Gun
Paramount Pictures debuted the very first trailer for Akiva Schaffer’s The Naked Gun legacy sequel, starring Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson, and Paul Walter Hauser, the same day as their CinemaCon 2025 presentation. You can view it below.
