The Disney+ and Hulu August 2025 list of new arrivals is keeping the summer momentum rolling, especially for Disney Bundle subscribers with access to both streamers. FX’s Alien: Earth series is the most anticipated premiere of the month. Created by Noah Hawley (Fargo, Legion), Alien: Earth is coming hot off the heels of last year’s smash hit Alien: Romulus. The Hulu series, however, is set in 2120, roughly 22 years before the events of Romulus and just two years before the events of Ridley Scott’s original 1979 film. Moreover, rather than being horror-focused, Alien: Earth aims to take the franchise deeper into expansive science fiction territory.
As humanity and robots share an uneasy coexistence, tech company Prodigy, a peer of the Weyland-Yutani Corp, forges the very first “hybrid,” otherwise known as androids with human consciousnesses. This primitive hybrid is our protagonist Wendy (Sydney Chandler), whose attempts to find her footing in society are interrupted when a mysterious spacecraft lands on Earth, unleashing the first Xenomorphs to walk the planet. Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, and Essie Davis, Alien: Earth will premiere its first two episodes on both FX and the Hulu streaming service on August 12, with the remaining six episodes airing weekly.
For something completely different, National Geographic presents the second season of Chris Hemsworth’s docuseries Limitless: Live Better Now. The blockbuster star travels across the globe in search of new and often unusual methods to strengthen the body and mind, aiming to live better for longer. Produced by Darren Aronofsky, director of such films as Black Swan, The Whale, and the upcoming Caught Stealing, this new season of Limitless sees Hemsworth taking on three science-backed, high-stakes challenges. From training with the South Korean Special Forces to scaling a 600-foot dam in the Swiss Alps to learning how to play drums live for popstar Ed Sheeran, Limitless: Live Better Now is not to be missed when it debuts on August 15.
Jumping into the MCU, all four episodes of Marvel Animation’s Eyes of Wakanda will finally be making their way to Disney+ subscribers on August 1, 2025. Sinners and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler helped develop the animated anthology series, with showrunner Todd Harris taking the lead. Eyes of Wakanda follows the various missions of a covert team of Wakandan warriors known as the Hatut Zaraze as they retrieve vibranium artifacts across the decades. Confirmed characters for the animated Disney+ show include former Dora Milaje warrior Noni (Winnie Harlow) and the Marvel hero Iron Fist, whose voice actor is yet to be disclosed. This miniseries should keep Marvel fans satisfied until we get fresh updates on Coogler’s Black Panther 3.
Much like Mike Judge’s classic cartoon Beavis and Butt-Head, which got a revival on Paramount+ that’s still ongoing, his long-running animated sitcom, King of the Hill, is being revived for a fourteenth season as a Hulu original series. Set in the fictional town of Arlen, Texas, the animated show, in its previous incarnation, centered on Hank Hill (Mike Judge) and his wife, Peggy Hill (Kathy Najimy), as they raised their unconventional son, Bobby (Pamela Adlon), in their colorful small-town community. The twist in this revival season is that the characters are aged up, with Bobby now working as a professional chef.
Virtually, the entire King of the Hill voice cast is returning, save for Brittany Murphy, Johnny Hardwick, and Jonathan Joss, who all tragically passed before the new season could take shape. However, Joss and Hardwick reportedly completed voice work for multiple episodes prior to their passing. Regardless, it will be nice to see beloved characters like Dale Gribble, Boomhauer, Bill Dauterive, and Khan when all ten episodes of King of the Hill Season 14 arrive on the Hulu streaming platform on August 4, 2025.
