Netflix has got quite the impressive lineup for September 2022. All eyes will be on Cobra Kai Season 5, which is expected to elevate the fan-favorite series to new heights within the Karate Kid lore. Switching gears, all corners of the film community will be tuning into Andrew Dominik’s Blonde – the idiosyncratic Marilyn Monroe piece led by the one and only Ana de Armas. The black teen comedy Do Revenge will also be a must-watch for Netflix subscribers, seeing as it boasts a packed cast of recognizable fresh stars like Camila Mendes, Maya Hawke, and Sophie Turner only to name a few.
In terms of older and classic films that are cycling back into Netflix this September, timeless pieces like Scarface, Clueless, The Notebook, and A Clockwork Orange will be at the top of those watchlists. Binging reliable comedies is also on the table with films like This Is 40, A Knight’s Tale, Next Friday, and This Is the End all being available to stream this month. Amongst the sea of new arrivals, Barry Jenkins’ If Beale Street Could Talk is another gem that always makes for a perfect watch for those looking to expand their film perspectives. Finally, even though it isn’t a Netflix original film, Rob Zombie’s latest throwback piece The Munsters will be streaming first on the service to coincide with its digital release.

Our Recs:
Cobra Kai – Season 5
Cobra Kai Season 5 sees Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence having to once again put their bravado and egos aside to win the valley back, but this time from Terry Silver and his unbeatable dojo of stone-cold athletes. Silver is now leading Cobra Kai on his own after betraying John Kreese and sending him to prison in the closing events of Season 4.
However, just because he’s in jail doesn’t mean that Kreese will be completely out of the picture, as he’s of course still scheming for a comeback in the background. Fans will see Daniel and Johnny call upon all their resources in what could be their most desperate attempt to set things right. This will definitely be the biggest the show has ever been, and what these new episodes set up could be even more epic as scenes for Cobra Kai Season 6 have already been filmed.
Cobra Kai Season 5 debuts on Netflix September 9, 2022.
Do Revenge
Two unlikely high schoolers from opposite social groups team up to get revenge on each other’s worst enemies in Netflix’s new dark teen comedy Do Revenge. Camila Mendes stars as Drea, a preppy overachiever whose life gets turned upside down when a topless video of her gets leaked by her boyfriend. No one in town wants is as thirsty for revenge as Eleanor, an underground rebel played by Maya Hawke who was wrongfully accused of forcing themselves onto another classmate. a
The two realize that their best way of getting payback is together, as they can switch into opposite social groups with little notice and act as a secret agent on each other’s behalf. This unorthodox teen tale comes from director-writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who just recently co-wrote Thor: Love and Thunder alongside Taika Waititi. Robinson has a history of tackling gender roles and adolescent trauma on film and TV, but Do Revenge sees her aiming for a new kind of twisted humor.
Do Revenge premieres on Netflix September 16, 2022!
The Munsters
Rob Zombie’s 9th feature film may catch some horror fans off guard. The crazed mind behind hillbilly killing sprees like House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects is taking a trip down memory lane, to the year 1964 to be exact. Rob Zombie is ditching his trademark griminess and vulgarity for good old timely horror-comedy hijinks in The Munsters, falling perfectly in line with the 60s family sitcom it gets its name from.
The last time fans got this close to seeing what a tongue-in-cheek, traditional B movie from Zombie would look like was with his faux Grindhouse trailer, Werewolf Women of the SS. This might not be as dark or repulsive as say his take on Halloween, but The Munsters just further highlights Zombie’s tastes and range as a storyteller.
The Munsters arrives on Netflix September 27, 2022!
Blonde
Blonde is the first major release in Netflix’s upcoming potential awards slate. Filmmaker Andrew Dominik is no stranger to both the kind and harsh spotlights of Hollywood, with past films like The Assassination of Jesse James and Killing Them Softly receiving comments on both ends of the critical spectrum. However, Blonde is perhaps his most ambitious project to date.
Based on the fictional biography of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates, the film travels through different lenses and colors to find the essence of who Marilyn Monroe was. At the center of it all is a powerhouse performance from Ana de Armas that has been described as nothing short of “phenomenal.” Plenty of conversations have sprouted from its NC-17 rating, which is a first of its kind for Netflix. Take it or leave it, but people are going to be talking about this movie for months to come.
Blonde hits Netflix September 28, 2022!
