Prime Video has got a packed list of new arrivals for January 2024. Subscribers can now stream two of last year’s most bombastic blockbusters: Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and Fast X. However, it’s not all about cars and explosions because some other notable 2023 films also just made their streaming debut on the platform. This includes the sci-fi thriller Foe, starring Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal, and the sci-fi comedy Landscape with Invisible Hand, which comes from Thoroughbreds writer-director Cory Finley.

In terms of new Prime Video originals, Role Play and The Underdoggs are the two top film choices of January 2024. Role Play stars Kaley Cuoco (The Flight Attendant, Harley Quinn) and David Oyelowo (Selma, Silo) as a married couple who decide to spice up their intimacy in the bedroom with a little role play. As it turns out, these kinky antics reveal that one of them has been living a secret life as an assassin for hire. Meanwhile, The Underdoogs is a sports comedy that follows former NFL star Jaycen Jennings (Snoop Dogg) as he’s left with no choice but to coach a youth football team in order to avoid going to prison. Multiple comedians join Snoop in the film, including George Lopez, Andrew Schulz, and Mike Epps.

Moving on, Hazbin Hotel is a new show that every Prime Video subscriber should have on their radar. Co-produced by beloved indie distributor A24, Hazbin Hotel is an adult animated musical series that centers around Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen), the princess of Hell, as she runs a rehabilitation hotel that offers the nastiest demons a chance at redemption and a ticket into Heaven. The series is created by animator, writer, director, and voice actress Vivienne Medrano, also known by their online alias VivziePop. This project came to be thanks to the success of the viral pilot episode, which was entirely independently made and released on YouTube in 2019. It even led to a spin-off web series called Helluva Boss.

Finally, celebrated filmmaker Lulu Wang is bringing a new thrilling drama series to the streaming service this month. Expats is based on the 2016 novel The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee and follows a close-knit international community in Hong Kong whose lives are forever changed by a sudden tragedy. The six-episode Prime Video original limited series is directed by Lulu Wang and is led by Nicole Kidman, Sarayu Blue, and Ji-young Yoo. Other must-see titles now streaming on Prime Video in January 2024 include the first four Mission: Impossible films, the original Christopher Reeve Superman saga, and the critically acclaimed 2022 International drama, Return to Seoul.
