New Arrivals for Prime Video and Freevee 2024

March 2024 is shaping up to be another stellar month for Prime Video subscribers. Amazon’s streaming service is premiering the highly-anticipated, albeit controversial Road House remake. Directed by Doug Liman (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Edge of Tomorrow), this new iteration of Road House follows the same basic structure as the original film but updates its main character to be a former UFC middleweight fighter. Star Jake Gyllenhaal endured an extreme training process to build the physique of an MMA fighter, and that’s not the only authenticity being brought to this remake as UFC champion Conor McGregor is also making his acting debut here as one of the movie’s villains, Knox.

Conor McGregor facing off against Jake Gyllenhaal is just one of the many exciting aspects of Amazon’s Road House. Audiences follow Gyllenhaal’s main character Elwood Dalton as he goes from achieving glory in the octagon to taking up a seemingly small job as a bouncer in a sketchy Florida Keys dive, meeting a variety of colorful characters along the way played by the likes of Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad), Billy Magnussen (Game Night), Jessica Williams (Shrinking), Lukas Gage (The White Lotus), and Austin Post, aka rap star Post Malone. To make things even better, the original Road House from 1989 starring Patrick Swayze, Kelly Lynch, and Sam Elliott just got added to Prime Video this month as well. There’s plenty of enough time to stream the classic film before the remake premieres on March 21!

Another Prime Video original film to look out for in March 2024 is John Cena’s new comedy Ricky Stanicky. Co-written and directed by Peter Farrelly (Dumb and Dumber, Green Book), Ricky Stanicky centers around three longtime friends — Dean (Zac Efron), Wes (Jermaine Fowler), and JT (Andrew Santino) — who have blamed all of their hijinks and immature behavior on an imaginary character they created named “Ricky Stanicky.” When their spouses and partners get way too suspicious after years of lying, the trio decides to hire a washed-up actor named Rod (Cena) to bring Ricky Stanicky to life. John Cena takes slapstick to another level in Peter Farrelly’s latest raunchy comedy, making this a must-watch for Prime Video subscribers this month.

Moving on, comic book fans can look forward to the release of the second half of Invincible Season 2. The streamer is premiering Invincible Season 2 Part 2 on March 14, which marks the 21st anniversary of creator Robert Kirkman’s inception of the groundbreaking comic book series. The further adventures of the 18-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) are not to be missed. Mark/Invincible must face a new wave of challenges while proving to himself that he can be a better superhero and person than his father Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons) ever was and is. These latest episodes of the beloved Prime Video original series feature the return of the show’s impressive supporting voice cast, including Sandra Oh (Debbie Grayson), Zazie Beetz (Amber Bennett), Walton Goggins (Cecil Stedman), Gillian Jacobs (Atom Eve), Jason Mantzoukas (Rex Splode), Zachary Quinto (Rudy Connors), and Seth Rogen (Allen the Alien).

Five Nights at Freddy’s is now available on Prime Video on March 2024 as well. Led by Josh Hutcherson of Hunger Games fame, Blumhouse’s movie adaptation of Scott Cawthon’s viral video game series took the world by storm last year, quickly becoming the highest-grossing horror film of 2023. Of course, Blumhouse is already developing a sequel, so those who are interested in jumping into the series can now do so on Prime Video. Moving on to animation, the first How to Train Your Dragon film (which is soon getting the live-action treatment) just got added to the streaming platform with The LEGO Batman Movie and Minions: The Rise of Gru still coming later in the month. Finally, a new documentary exploring the life of the iconic Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, simply titled Frida, debuts on March 14 and makes for a great watch to celebrate Women’s History Month.
