Netflix is sadly saying goodbye to some fan-favorite films and shows in April 2024. Whereas the biggest Netflix premieres of the month include director Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver and the live-action manga adaptation Parasyte: The Grey, the most notable titles leaving the streamer in April 2024 include the original Jurassic Park trilogy and both Mamma Mia! movies. Netflix subscribers looking forward to seeing Ryan Gosling in The Fall Guy in theaters this summer will want to stream The Nice Guys before it leaves the platform on April 8, 2024. Writer-director Shane Black’s neo-noir buddy action comedy stars Gosling and Russell Crowe, and people have been asking for a sequel for years. Gosling and Crowe are at their most hilarious here, which makes The Nice Guys an easy-going watch at home.
Horror fanatics should queue up 2014’s Deliver Us from Evil and 2007’s 30 Days of Night as they are both getting removed from Netflix in April 2024. Two other must-see horror films to stream before they expire from the streaming service this month are James Wan’s Malignant and Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead’s Synchronic. Malignant fits the definition of a true modern cult classic, with its insane story and chaotic humor adding up to make one of the most boldly original horror stories in years. Meanwhile, Synchronic, led by Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan, is a trippy blend of sci-fi and horror that won’t be soon to forget. Additionally, the seminal zombie action flick Train to Busan, which is also directed by Parastye: The Grey filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho, is leaving Netflix on April 22, 2024 and is an absolute must-see for fans of the genre.
The streamer is losing two beloved animated films this month as well, DreamWorks’ Kung Fu Panda 3 and How to Train Your Dragon 2. The third entry in the Kung Fu Panda series is a bit underrated and has only aged better over the years, especially with its creative and vibrant animation. It’s a great watch for those Netflix subscribers who recently enjoyed Kung Fu Panda 4 in theaters. How to Train Your Dragon 2, on the other hand, is widely seen as the very best from the HTTYD franchise. Seeing as DreamWorks and Universal Pictures are currently working on a live-action How to Train Your Dragon remake, it wouldn’t hurt to return to the Isle of Berk with friends and stream the critically acclaimed animated sequel.
The theatrical and extended miniseries versions of Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight will also be removed from Netflix in April 2024. Netflix subscribers looking for more award-winning films to stream should queue up Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, Damien Chazelle’s Whiplash, and Todd Phillips’ Joker, as they are both leaving at the end of the month. The upcoming Joker sequel, titled Joker: Folie à Deux, is introducing Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn and is described as being a jukebox musical of sorts. It’s one of the most anticipated films of the year, meaning that now’s the time to brush up on the first film while it’s still on Netflix until April 30, 2024.
Finally, those in the mood for a good laugh should dive into the comedies Twins, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Devito, and Step Brothers, starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, before they all both the streaming platform in the next few weeks. Check out the list of everything leaving Netflix in April 2024 below.
