The Disney+ and Hulu April 2025 list of new arrivals is led by some exciting heavy hitters, which Disney Bundle subscribers with access to both streamers can make the most out of. First up is the highly anticipated second and final season of Andor. Star Wars fans have been waiting for the conclusion of the Rogue One prequel following the origins of rebel revolutionary Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) since 2022. In a time when Star Wars shows have been polarizing, creator Tony Gilroy has received widespread acclaim for building out the rich worlds of the franchise with deep political awareness and tactility. Luna’s magnetic leading performance is just the cherry on top of this beloved Disney+ original series.
Andor Season 2 is releasing on Disney+ in four-episode “chapters” starting on April 22, 2025. This rollout is by design, with each section of the story meant to have its own feel. Moreover, Disney+ subscribers can look forward to Andor’s android companion K-2SO (voiced by the hilarious Alan Tudyk) finally joining the Star Wars series. On the note of sci-fi, Doctor Who Season 2 (also known as Series 15) premieres on Disney+ on April 12, 2025. Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education) returns as the titular Time Lord alongside his companion, Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson). This time, though, a new sidekick named Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) enters the fray, and she desperately needs the TARDIS to return back to her homeworld.
For Hulu subscribers, the FX on Hulu original series, Dying for Sex, is looking to offer a fresh take on romance and relationships when it premieres on April 4, 2025. Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans, Venom) stars as Molly, a middle-aged woman put on a time clock after being diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. This tragic diagnosis makes her realize that she’s sexually unfulfilled. Thus, she breaks off her 15-year marriage to find her own sexual liberation. The 8-episode Hulu miniseries is based on a true story that was documented in a famous podcast recorded by the real-life Molly Kochan (who passed away in 2019) and her best friend, Nikki Boyer (played by Jenny Slate in the show).
One of the biggest programs to ever hit a streaming giant is The Handmaid’s Tale. Set in a dystopian future controlled by cruel men in the aftermath of a civil war, the series is led by Elisabeth Moss (The Invisible Man, Mad Men) and is known for its sharp critique of the patriarchy, as well as key supporting performances from actors like Joseph Fiennes and Ann Dowd. It’s been 3 years since the previous season, leaving its fanbase waiting with bated breath. The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 will be the last and bring this epic story to an end, though. Expect the Hulu show to dominate conversations once again when the final season kicks off on April 8, 2025.
While there are no Hulu or Disney+ original films in April 2025, there are a ton of prominent recent releases that subscribers shouldn’t miss out on. The first is Small Things Like These. Starring Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer), the 2024 historical drama is a harrowing piece about the Magdalene Laundries in Ireland — religious asylums that were responsible for taking in “fallen women” only to enact inhumane practices. The movie gets added to Hulu on April 8, 2025. Not one to scale back on the intensity, Hulu is premiering The Order on April 18, 2025, as well. Led by Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult, The Order follows an FBI agent going after a white supremacist terror group in the 1980s.
Horror fans are in for a real treat this month on Hulu, with a slew of recent gems being added throughout April 2025. Oddity, a beloved indie horror darling set around a creepy wooden gollum, arrives at the very beginning of April 2025. In a Violet Nature, a slow cinema-style slasher that is entirely framed through the perspective of a Jason Voorhees-like killer as he goes on a methodical killing spree, is then coming on April 22, 2025. Finally, the mostly dialogue-free post-apocalyptic horror Azrael, starring Samara Weaving (Ready or Not, Borderline), lands on April 25, 2025.
Other familair favorites that can now be found on Hulu this April include the classic Karate Kid and Jurassic Park trilogies. This is excellent timing, as both franchises are debuting new movies this summer with Karate Kid: Legends and Jurassic World Rebirth hitting theaters on May 30 and July 2, 2025, respectively. Similarly, a collection of Wes Anderson movies is arriving on April 4, just in time before his next film, The Phoenician Scheme, hits theaters on May 30.
