As Fall begins to roll in, the Disney+ and Hulu September 2025 list of new arrivals shows no signs of slowing down for both streaming platforms. First up is the Disney+ streaming premiere of the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake on September 3. The only Hollywood movie to cross the $1 billion mark this year, audiences follow the rogue alien experiment Stitch (once again voiced by creator Chris Sanders) as he crash-lands in Hawaii. There, the cute abomination finds family, or “Ohana,” in precocious six-year-old Lilo Pelekai (Maia Keealoha). It’s now known as a timeless story, and this latest live-action Disney remake has all the heart and chaotic antics that fans love about the original animated film.
Next up for Disney+ subscribers is Marvel Animation’s Marvel Zombies, which arrives on September 24. A spin-off from What If…?, Marvel Zombies is loosely based on the cult comic book of the same name. The animated 4-episode miniseries is set in an alternate timeline within the grand Marvel Cinematic Universe, where much of society has been decimated by superheroes infected by a zombie virus. A group of survivors, full of familiar Marvel heroes, must fight against hordes of the undead to try and salvage what’s left of the world. Paul Rudd, Hailee Steinfeld, Simu Liu, Awkwafina, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, and Elizabeth Olsen are among the returning MCU cast members lending their voices to this Disney+ original series.
On the “FX on Hulu” side of things, The Lowdown is debuting its first two episodes also on September 24. The modern noir series stars the great Ethan Hawke as citizen journalist Lee Raybon, whose main goal is to root up corruption in his hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. His mission finds him rubbing elbows with a group of less-than-savory characters in a cast ensemble that includes the likes of Kyle MacLachlan, Keith David, and Tim Blake Nelson. Loosely based on the true story of Tulsa historian and journalist Lee Roy Chapman, The Lowdown comes from Reservation Dogs co-creator Sterlin Harjo, making it a must-watch for Hulu subscribers this month.
Only Murders in the Building Season 5 is perhaps the most anticipated Hulu arrival in September 2025. The Hulu original series follows three true crime enthusiasts (played by Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez) who become amateur sleuths themselves. Meryl Streep, Nathan Lane, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Téa Leoni are among the returning supporting cast members this season. New faces join them in Renée Zellweger, Logan Lerman, Keegan-Michael Key, and Christoph Waltz. Only Murders in the Building continues to grow as one of the streamer’s most prolific comedies, earning 7 Emmy wins out of a staggering 56 nominations thus far. That massive tally is likely to increase after the premiere of the fifth season on September 9.
Moving on, two high-profile Hulu movies should be on your watch lists in September 2025. The first is Swiped, making its Hulu streaming debut on September 19. A biographical drama that tells the story of Whitney Wolfe Herd (played by Lily James), the founder and former CEO of Bumble, Swiped will certainly offer insight into how today’s dating app culture evolved. The second is The Man in My Basement — arriving on September 25. The horror-thriller stars Corey Hawkins as a man strapped for cash who rents out his basement to a mysterious European stranger (Willem Defoe). Based on the novel of the same name by Walter Mosley, the Hulu film sounds promising for those seeking thrills.
Last but not least, Chad Powers is finally premiering on Hulu at the end of the month on September 30. Co-created and led by movie star Glen Powell, Chad Powers centers on Russ Holliday, a former football prodigy whose narcissism and arrogance ruined his prospects as an NFL quarterback. Trying to get back into the game, he disguises himself under the quirky persona of “Chad Powers” to sneak his way onto a college football team. The premise is hilarious, and the supporting cast, featuring Steve Zahn and Toby Huss, is impressive. Other Disney+ and Hulu streaming recommendations for September 2025 include new seasons of Futurama, The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, and Krapopolis, all part of Fox’s Animation Domination programming block.
