New Arrivals for Disney+ October 2022

All eyes are on Werewolf by Night on Disney+ in October 2022, but there are a few more other surprises in store. Marvel Studios’ first-ever Halloween special joins Hocus Pocus 2 as the must-watch originals to celebrate the spooky season on Disney+, so subscribers should jump on either if they haven’t done so already. There has never been more ongoing original material to choose from on this streaming service, and this is reflected in October’s latest arrivals. When not celebrating Halloween and the two aforementioned titles, people can follow along with new episodes of Andor, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers throughout the month.

Switching gears, two short-lived Spider-Man cartoons are making their Disney+ debuts in October 2022 after many cries from fans, well, at least for one of them. The first season of The Spectacular Spider-Man is coming along with the much more notorious Spider-Man: The New Animated Series. The former stars voice actor Josh Keaton as the titular hero in what is now recognized as one of the definitive Spider-Man incarnations while the latter was a more divisive CGI-rendered version that aired on MTV in 2003 and featured Neil Patrick Harris as Peter Parker.

The New Mutants, the last of the Fox-era X-Men films, finally arrives on Disney+ this month as well, after previously being on HBO Max. The film does dabble in horror so this move can be somewhat seen as timely for the Halloween season. On a completely different note, we cannot go on without mentioning the fact that some iconic children’s programs are debuting on the service and will now be available for a whole new generation of young audiences to enjoy. We are, of course, talking about Bear in the Big Blue House and PB&J Otter. Now’s the time to introduce these timeless shows to your little loved ones.

Read more on our monthly recs and check out the full list of everything coming to Disney+ in October 2022 below. You can also find this October’s most recent additions and exits from HBO Max and Netflix right here on DiscussingFilm.

Monstrous New Side | Marvel Studios’ Special Presentation: Werewolf by Night | Disney+

Marvel Studios’ first-ever Halloween special is the main event on Disney+ in October 2022, opening the entire franchise up to a whole new world of potential. Fans can already expect another special presentation this December thanks to James Gunn and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. However, in his directorial debut, Michael Giacchino paves the way for the MCU to put darker and more supernatural characters in the spotlight.

Blade may already be on the way, but seeing risks be taken on underrepresented characters like Werewolf by Night or even Man-Thing truly is a sight to behold. It’s even more gratifying to witness such characters brought to life by superb actors like Gael García Bernal. Marvel Studios has already hinted that more specials, whether they be holiday themed or not, could be on the way depending on the response to Werewolf by Night. You know what that means, let them know what you really think by giving this Halloween presentation your time this month.

Werewolf by Night is now streaming on Disney+!

The Mysterious Benedict Society: Season 2

The Mysterious Benedict Society season 2 | Official Trailer | Disney+

Based on Trenton Lee Stewart’s popular book series of the same name, The Mysterious Benedict Society proved to be one of the more stylish and promising Disney+ originals when it premiered last summer. The show follows a group made up of 4 extraordinary orphans who are brought together by the genius Mr. Benedict (Tony Hale) to stop global crises.

Part mystery, part adventure, with all the family fun in between, The Mysterious Benedict Society is back with a new mission that sees Tony Hale stretch his comedic acting muscles as the show’s main villain and heroic mentor. When Mr. Benedict and his second in command Number Two (Kristen Schaal) are kidnapped by his evil twin brother (also played by Hale), the young adventures must rescue their confidant before a devious plan to control society’s brainwaves and emotions reaches its final phase.

The Mysterious Benedict Society Season 2 premieres on Disney+ October 26, 2022!
