Netflix has got a stacked lineup for December 2023. As the awards season kicks into full gear, the streamer is debuting two of its newest profound original films, director Todd Haynes’ drama inspired by the real-life controversy of Mary Kay Letourneau, May December, and Bradley Cooper’s Maestro, a biopic on the famed American composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein. Netflix subscribers looking to entertain the whole family will be able to enjoy Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, Aardman Animations‘ highly-anticipated legacy sequel that now comes 23 years after the original classic.

All eyes are on Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon this month, a bold new original sci-fi epic that should find no trouble in satisfying the filmmaker’s extremely dedicated fanbase. Snyder’s vision is so vast that Netflix has split Rebel Moon into two parts; Part One: A Child of Fire releases at the end of December 2023 while Part Two: The Scargiver releases in April 2024. And in true Snyder fashion, longer R-rated Rebel Moon Director’s Cuts are in the works as well.

The platform’s revolving streaming library is also seeing tons of notable additions in December 2023. First of all, an entire collection of DCEU films is coming to Netflix at the very beginning of the month, from James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad to Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey to Patty Jenkin’s two Wonder Woman films. The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which now stands as the second highest-grossing animated film ever, is making its debut on the streamer too, which should be good news for parents looking to entertain their kids this holiday season.

The underrated sci-fi adventure film Love and Monsters, led by Dylan O’Brien and Jessica Henwick, hits Netflix on December 9 and is very much worth a watch. Additionally, those in the mood for a good comedy will want to stream Neighbors and Blockers this month. Other exciting new Netflix arrivals include James Wan’s Insidious and Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan. The Meg is about to make a big splash on the streaming service too.

Of course, it must also be mentioned that one of Netflix’s top original series, The Crown, is ending in December 2023. The Crown Season 6 Part 2 finally reaches the noughties and explores Prince Charles (Dominic West) and Camilla’s (Olivia Williams) relationship as well as Prince William (Ed McVey) and Prince Harry’s (Luther Ford) turbulent lives after the tragic death of their mother Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki). This includes William meeting and falling in love with Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy).
