Summer is upon us, and Disney+ is kicking off the season with yet another month of exciting new additions for subscribers. May already saw an influx of original content on Disney+, and June is looking to follow suit. Fan-favorite series like The Bad Batch and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will continue, and fans will be able to catch the premiere of Marvel Studios’ third original series, Loki! Also coming this month, Pixar’s Luca will hit Disney+ – their second film to debut on the platform.

In addition to following new adventures of the students of East High and the marauding vigilantes of a galaxy far, far away, this June will also see some beloved classics make their way onto Disney+. X-Men Origins: Wolverine will bide the appetites of many as they wait for the MCU’s iteration of the character, and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs will join the streamer’s growing collection of Blue Sky animated films. No longer behind the platform’s $30 Premiere Access service, Raya and the Last Dragon will be free for subscribers starting June 4.

Read more on our recs and see the whole list of everything coming to Disney+ in June below! Everything coming to and leaving Netflix, HBO Max, and Hulu can also be found on DiscussingFilm.

Our Recs:

Luca

Disney and Pixar’s Luca | Official Trailer | Disney+

The latest from renowned animation studio Pixar, director Enrico Casarosa’s Luca features the voices of Jacob Tremblay and Jack Dylan Grazer as two young boys on a seaside town on the Italian Riviera. The film will follow the boys as they navigate new adventures and threats – a life complicated by them being sea monsters from beneath the ocean’s surface.

Much like the release of Soul in December, Luca will be free for all Disney+ subscribers. It will not be released under the service’s Premiere Access label or cost any additional money beyond the general subscription fee.

Pixar’s Luca will hit Disney+ on June 18!

Loki

Marvel Studios' Loki | Official Trailer | Disney+

Featuring Tom Hiddleston as the ever-scheming Asgardian, Loki is Marvel Studios’ third venture into episodic storytelling in a television format. Following the events of Endgame, this series will follow an alternate version of Loki – not the one that fans saw die at the hands of Thanos in Infinity War. This version of the character has gone on adventures throughout the timeline wreaking havoc, causing a sort-of time police (the Time Variance Authority) to step in.

The first episode of Marvel Studios’ Loki will premiere on Disney+ June 9, with consecutive episode premieres on each Wednesday hence.

Raya and the Last Dragon

The second major title to lose its $30 price tag after a few months (after Mulan), Raya and the Last Dragon will finally be available on the widest scale. “There is no denying what this film will do for Asian audiences and its message to families. There are bounties to enjoy from this colorful new world and the female heroes at its center.” This film’s importance today can’t be overstated, and to have it finally free for everyone should be celebrated. Suffice to say, now’s the time to watch for those who haven’t already.

Raya and the Last Dragon becomes free for all Disney+ subscribers June 4!
