New Arrivals for Hulu September 2021

by Jeremiah Monaghan
The neon season 3 poster of WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS coming to FX on Hulu September 2021.

With Fall quickly approaching, Hulu has a huge month planned for September as the weather begins to cool. With one of the most highly-anticipated comic adaptations of the last few years, Y: The Last Man, finally coming to fruition thanks to FX, the third season of What We Do in the Shadows releasing (also from FX), and the premiere of the upcoming reality series The D’Amelio Show, Hulu truly has something new for everyone to enjoy as they settle back in and prepare for the rest of the year.

If you don’t want something new, Hulu has plenty of popular films to satisfy loyal subscribers. From Love, Simon, the hit LGBTQ+ film that spawned an equally popular series exclusively on Hulu, Love, Victor, to the Adam Sandler comedy Grown Ups, you’ll be able to enjoy a nice laugh with friends and family. Then, if you’re in the mood for a darker treat, check out the first four Friday the 13th films, the original 1990 Stephen King’s It miniseries, or even Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands and Corpse Bride.

Find the complete list of everything coming to and leaving Hulu in September 2021, as well as our top recommendations below. You can also find what’s arriving to and exiting Netflix, HBO Max, and Disney+ here on DiscussingFilm.

After years of cancelled attempts, production hell, and worries of it never releasing, Brian K. Vaughn’s largely successful comic series, Y: The Last Man, is finally getting a live-action adaptation. The series takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where every mammal with a Y-chromosome has been killed, except for one lone survivor, Yorick Brown, who must traverse the world as the last living biological man while society attempts to rebuild. The show is set to star Ben Schnetzer as Yorick alongside Diane Lane, Olivia Thirlby, Ashley Romans, Amber Tamblyn, Marin Ireland, Diana Bang, Elliot Fletcher, and Juliana Canfield.

Y: The Last Man’s first three episodes hit Hulu September 13!

The third season of the cult FX series, based on the 2014 film of the same title written and directed by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, is arriving on Hulu this month. What We Do in the Shadows follows a group of centuries-old vampires living in modern day Staten Island, as they interact with the real, current world, as well as modern iterations of fellow supernatural creatures adjusting to reality. The growing, fan-favorite show stars Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillén, and Mark Proksch.

Season 3 of What We Do in the Shadows premieres its first two episodes on Hulu September 3!

The D’Amelio Show

The D

In a post-Keeping Up With the Kardashians world of reality TV, a new series promises to fill the gap for those in desperate need of content to satisfy their televised desires. TikTok stars Charli and Dixie D’Amelio’s daily lives will be documented as they explore today’s teenage ups and downs, while also being two of the most followed creators on the popular social media app, attempting to create a balance of their two worlds with the help of their parents.

The D’Amelio Show: Season 1 arrives on Hulu September 3!
