New Arrivals for Netflix March 2022

by Andrew J. Salazar
A collage of the new Big Mouth animated spin-off Human Resources, Bridgerton Season 2, and the new sci-fi action adventure starring Ryan Reynolds THE ADAM PROJECT all coming to Netflix in March 2022.

Netflix is in no short supply of star-studded originals in March 2022. This month’s latest “event” film comes from Ryan Reynolds and Free Guy director Shawn Levy with The Adam Project. Co-starring Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, and Zoe Saldaña, this original sci-fi adventure draws from Amblin classics such as A.I. Artificial Intelligence and Back to the Future. Subscribers will want to keep an eye out for Windfall as well, a new psychological thriller lead by the unlikely trio of Jason Segel, Jesse Plemons, and Lily Collins, all names who need no introduction.

When it comes to original shows, fans will be eagerly awaiting the season 2 drop of Bridgerton. The Big Mouth spin-off Human Resources must also be mentioned. Focusing on the monsters from the famed Netflix animated series in an oddball workplace comedy, Human Resources boasts an incredible voice cast featuring the likes of Lupita Nyong’o, Hugh Jackman, Helen Mirren, and Keke Palmer – of course, all joined by returning series staples Maya Rudolph and Nick Kroll. Additionally, Netflix is debuting a new quirky cooking competition this March in Is It Cake?, where bakers duke it out to see who can craft the most realistic looking everyday items as cake, just like the title suggests.

Our Recs:

The Adam Project

The Adam Project has been in development for exactly a decade now, with Tom Cruise being originally attached as the lead in 2012. The final product finally gets to see the light of day thanks to Netflix and creative duo Ryan Reynolds and Shawn levy, who are hot off the success of 20th Century Studios’ Free Guy. Reynolds plays a time-traveling fighter pilot who must team up with his 12-year-old self in the past in order to save the future. Newcomer Walker Scobell gets the honor to play this younger version of Reynolds and their shared camaraderie powers the film’s unique emotional core. Joining Reynolds and Scobell are Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, and Zoe Saldaña.

The Adam Project hits Netflix on March 11, 2022!

Windfall

Windfall has the most peculiar origin. This psychological thriller is based on a story from actor Jason Segel, director Charlie McDowell, writer Justin Lader, and Andrew Kevin Walker, who is most famously known for penning David Fincher’s Se7en. The story follows an awkward hostage situation between a privileged rich couple and a loner wannabe crook who’s way in over his head, or at least that’s what it seems at first. Taking place over one afternoon and night at the couple’s desert villa home, the hostages must form their own game if they are to see the next morning in one piece. Fan-favorites Jesse Plemons and Lily Collins take on Segel in what could be one of Netflix’s more surprising releases of the month.

Windfall premieres on Netflix March, 18, 2022.

Black Crab

Netflix’s top breakout hits as of late have mostly been international projects, as seen in the popularity of titles like Squid Game, The Platform, Lupin, and so forth. Black Crab is posed for similar success, with notable Swedish star Noomi Rapace at the forefront. Rapace makes the jump from folk horror as seen in last year’s Lamb to a post-apocalyptic action thriller. She plays a speed skater turned soldier who must lead a small platoon of Scandinavian freedom fighters across a “no man’s land” frozen archipelago to deliver a mysterious package that could save humanity. Subscribers shouldn’t sleep on this high-potential Netflix exclusive.

Black Crab debuts on Netflix March 18, 2022.

Bridgerton: Season 2

The first season of Bridgerton broke Netflix records with a reported 82 million households tuning in, surpassing the previous record set by the debut season of The Witcher by 6 million. Based on Julia Quinn’s historical romance novels, season 2 is looking to follow suit and follow the second book titled The Viscount Who Loved Me. Jonathan Bailey’s Viscount Anthony Bridgerton will be the new focus of the series as he courts the woman of his dreams, and forms a complicated love triangle with her very own sister who is simultaneously trying to stop their relationship… suffice to say that fans of the show will find plenty to revel in this season.

Season 2 of Bridgerton lands on Netflix March 25, 2022!
