New Arrivals for Netflix December 2025

Once again, the biggest show on the Netflix December 2025 list of new arrivals is Stranger Things Season 5. After the massive reveal at the end of episode 4, fans are eager to know what the Duffer Brothers have planned. They won’t have to wait long, as Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2, which consists of the next 3 episodes, releases on December 25. Not long after, the monumental Stranger Things finale will hit the streamer on December 31, with a special theatrical release on the same day. Long-time viewers of this Netflix original series have waited a long time for this moment, and if the pre-release hype machine is to be believed, the conclusion will be grand.

One prominent Netflix original film that’s making its streaming debut in December 2025 after a limited theatrical release is Jay Kelly. The latest from beloved indie director Noah Baumbach, Jay Kelly follows an aging movie star (George Clooney) who embarks on a journey of self-reflection across Europe with his dedicated manager (Adam Sandler). Jay Kelly has received widespread acclaim for Clooney and Sandler’s poignant performances, as well as for its perceptive satire of Hollywood. The film will arrive on Netflix on December 5, along with its own making-of documentary. Not all indie darlings get the same special treatment as Baumbach does under the streaming giant, having now made 3 Netflix movies, including Marriage Story (2019) and White Noise (2022).

The next major Netflix streaming premiere to look out for is Knives Out 3, better known as Wake Up Dead Man, on December 12, 2025. Writer-director Rian Johnson‘s latest whodunnit puts Daniel Craig‘s eccentric private detective Benoit Blanc in his most dangerous case yet. This third Knives Out film changes things up by introducing a more gothic aesthetic, with a hint of spiritualism in its church-based murder mystery. Young priest Jud Duplenticy (Josh O’Connor) pleads for Blanc to clear his name in what seems like an impossible crime, with the rest of his congregation already rooting for his downfall. Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, Cailee Spaeny, Mila Kunis, Josh Brolin, Andrew Scott, and Jeremy Renner make up the supporting cast.

For those in need of action and suspense, Troll 2 should get the job done when it stomps its way onto the Netflix streaming platform on December 1, 2025. The Netflix blockbuster from Norway has the notable distinction of being the most expensive Nordic film ever made. When a giant troll emerges from a mountain, the group of surviving scientists from the first movie is left with no choice but to befriend another troll to stop it. Less explosive is Kate Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June. Written by her son, Joe Anders, the Christmas-themed drama centers on siblings who are confronted with their ailing mother’s deteriorating health. Goodbye June begins streaming on December 24 after a limited theatrical release.

There are still a couple of Netflix shows to get to, including Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft Season 2. The animated series, which features Hayley Atwell voicing the titular heroine from the iconic video game franchise, aims to bridge the gap between the newer games and the original, making it officially canon. The second season will bring the animated show from Crystal Dynamics and Netflix Animation to an end on December 11. While it’s become somewhat of a guilty pleasure, Emily in Paris continues to be a success. Therefore, it shouldn’t be surprising to hear that Emily in Paris Season 5 arrives on December 18, taking the always-charming Lily Collins to a new location in Rome, Italy.

Last but not least, Netflix is adding plenty of classics to its rotating streaming library for the holiday season. For the families, the first three Kung Fu Panda movies, both Rio films, and Over the Hedge will be added at the top of December 2025. For Netflix subscribers looking to catch up on, or perhaps rewatch, some timeless masterworks, Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, and Greta Gerwig’s Little Women will also be available to stream. Additionally, former HBO Max exclusive limited series Love & Death and The Staircase will be added to Netflix for the first time ever, along with all seasons of MTV’s Teen Wolf.
