The Disney+ and Hulu April 2026 list of new arrivals has a little something for everyone. For Hulu subscribers, The Testaments, the sequel series to The Handmaid’s Tale, based on the 2019 novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood, is not to be missed. Starring rising star Chase Infiniti, fresh off her exceptional performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, the story is set years after The Handmaid’s Tale and follows a new group of young women trying to navigate dystopian life at a preparatory academy for future wives. The Hulu original series notably co-stars Ann Dowd, Rowan Blanchard, and Amy Seimetz. Audiences can stream the first three episodes of The Testaments on April 8.
For Disney+ subscribers, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord is the hottest premiere of April 2026. While Darth Maul ostensibly died in The Phantom Menace, the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series revived him nearly 15 years ago, and the character has since had a strong presence in many other projects. Now, Lucasfilm head creative Dave Filoni continues Maul’s story in his very own Disney+ original series. Voiced once again by Sam Witwer, Shadow Lord follows Maul in the aftermath of the Clone Wars, trying to rebuild his criminal empire. With a voice cast featuring Oscar-nominee Wagner Moura and comedian Richard Ayoade, the Disney+ show will be catnip for Star Wars fans when it debuts on April 6.
Here’s a fun one: for his first role after the end of Stranger Things, actor Gaten Matarazzo is joined by Sean Giambrone (The Goldbergs) in the Hulu original film, Pizza Movie. The outrageous comedy follows two college roommates who take a hallucinogenic drug and end up way in over their heads. The only way to come down from their high is to eat pizza. Unfortunately, the quest to find pizza is made much more difficult by their looniness. There will always be a place for stoner comedies like Pizza Movie, especially with a concept this fun. The Hulu film arrives early in the month on April 3.
Finally, Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair is bringing back one of America’s favorite dysfunctional families on April 10. Frankie Muniz, Jane Kaczmarek, Bryan Cranston, Christopher Masterson, Emy Coligado, and Justin Berfield all return to their iconic roles for this sitcom revival. However, Caleb Ellsworth-Clark is replacing Erik Per Sullivan as Malcolm’s younger brother, Dewey. The Hulu series only runs for four episodes, all of which drop at once. Malcolm (Muniz), who is now a father, is forcibly roped back into his family’s shenanigans when he takes his daughter to his parents’ 40th wedding anniversary. It’ll be interesting to see how a beloved show like Malcolm in the Middle feels after 20 years off the air.
Even though April 2026 will see original shows like Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 continue to thrive as the remaining episodes release, there is also plenty of great repertory content to look forward to on both the Disney+ and Hulu streaming services. At the top of the month, families can enjoy the Night at the Museum trilogy, as well as all four Shrek movies. For the older crowd, the 21 Jump Street movies are hilarious additions to get excited about. Plus, the Oscar-nominated film Sirât will finally be available to stream on April 6, while Park Chan-wook’s masterful social class thriller No Other Choice makes its streaming debut on April 24.
