The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is ready to announce the nominations for the 98th Academy Awards. The 2026 Oscars are poised to celebrate an extraordinary year in cinema, with celebrated films such as Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, and Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet expected to dominate the nominations list. Meanwhile, global hits such as Avatar: Fire and Ash, KPop Demon Hunters, and even possibly F1: The Movie are looking to gain recognition in other below-the-line categories.

In terms of the main acting categories, Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme) and Jesse Buckley (Hamnet) are leading the race for Best Actor and Actress, respectively. Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another) and Stellan Skarsgård (Sentimental Value) are then leading the Supporting Actress and Actor races, according to current industry predictions. However, the beauty of the Oscars is that anything can change. Awards season underdogs, like Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, The Secret Agent, and Train Dreams, could still pull through and overperform with nominations.

Keep reading to see the full Oscars 2026 nominations list, and tune into the 98th Academy Awards hosted by Conan O’Brien on Sunday, March 15! You can also find the winners for the 2026 Golden Globes right here on DiscussingFilm.
